Who do you think will win the fullback battle between Hall and Khun? I definitely think one of them will be cut, with Quinn Johnson being the other fullback.

I am hoping Hall beats out Khun, mainly because of his receiving skills. I think Khun is a good blocker, but that is what Quinn Johnson is for.

I say keep Hall for a receiving fullback and let the big, bruising Quinn Johnson start.

By the way, Hall isn't a push over when it comes to blocking either.

I like both Kuhn and Hall, but I think you are right. Johnson is more in the build of Kuhn, so those two will battle for a spot, and Hall will have the other one, probably. I think Hall is a solid ST player too.

Want an outside opinion on this.. with the multiple sets that Mike McCarthy uses.. I think the final roster breakdown will be

3 Fullbacks and 2 TE.. with the Fullbacks backing up the TE in emergency needs..

Special teams killed us last season.. Kuhn and Hall both can do multiple things on special teams.. QJ should be a beast there as well..

All things considered.. I think this is how things shake out.. with a TE on the Practice Squad for development and the departure of a FB next season..

Another reason I think it falls this way is Kuhn and Hall have been nicked up some.. and Mike McCarthy is fond of that reverse wishbone set with two FB's and a single HB..

To be honest I agree with this for the most part. Nobody really is good enough to have seized that 3rd TE spot but we have two proven Fullbacks on the roster and added another best in Johnson. Maybe if one of them could even transition to TE...

err I doubt one of our FBs will be a TE - ie TEs are generally pretty tall and can move quickly and catch and block.

FBs generally shorter and stronger.

I like our FBs on our team (not sure about quinn yet). But he appears to be pretty good

I don't think they could use a FB as a TE but any of the 3 FBs could be better than any of TE the Packers currently have IMO on STs.

Also the Packers are using that one LB as a TE too. I think he would be worse than the FB on ST but he could back-up the LBers and the TEs.

Hall has the edge on receiving and special teams.

Kuhn is competent and if cut should find a job somewhere in the league.

We will see what the rookie can do.

Like LB and WR, this is a very good and deep position for the Packers.

That's a good point. None of our FBs are Hester-like though. Hall can catch a pass occasionally, but can he really beat out Humphrey for the 3rd TE spot? 2 FBs are by far enough for me. I think we should release Hall and keep Humphrey (or another TE) on the roster.

The reverse wishbone is run with 2 FBs, like you said. I'd like to go the opposite way and pick up a 3rd TE who can block. Someone who we can put in on obvious passing down, nearly as a 6th linemen and have him go in as the 2nd FB if something would go wrong with Hall.

Problem might be, finding a guy like that. Undrafted TEs who can block very well and have some problems with pass catching are perfect to turn into projects for the O-line. In that first 'off-year', we could get him on the field in previously mentioned situations.

Find a package where the Packers used more than 2 TE's?

I recall non other than maybe FG's...

We are a pass first team with a high number of 3 and 4 WR sets..

So I think we load up on special teams and keep a TE on the taxi squad in case Lee or Finley can't go.. but I don't think any of the FB's could fill in more than emergency at TE...

3FB's and 2 TE's giving the special teams a lift with more flexibility..

I can't recall using more than 2 TE's in one set. I do recall a lot of shifting around between the 3. And what hasn't been can still come. Having a 3 TE set with three good receiving TEs like we have (I found our TE position very mediocre, but Humphrey is great for a Nr. 3 TE) and two of them who can block reasonably, we'd be very unpredictable. Especially since we use so many 3 and 4 WR sets.

I see your point on special teams. I just think that a third TE, who's a O-line/TE tweener would be great as a developmental player and he'd be perfect to get on to the field in running formations. A 3 TE set with a guy like that lining up next to the tackle could make for a good running and receiving formation. Then again, we could put such a player on our practice squad.

I just don't see that much of a use for 3 FBs. Not even with our wish-bone formation. I'd like some depth along most positions, but do we want to keep Kuhn on the active roster just to see him line up with the offense 10 times a season and haven an ok special teams player? He doesn't have the raw run blocking skill that Quinn has and doesn't have the receiving skills that Hall has. I don't know, I'd rather have a rookie or something. Maybe a linebacker or keep that 4th RB on the active roster.
