Don't get me wrong cheesey i'm glad they paid Jennings, I'm happy for the guy.
But don't it seem fishy that Ted Thompson wouldn't spend money when the devil was here and wouldn't trade up in the draft and now the devil is gone he does what is totally opposite to his nature.

I think Jennings was overpaid stats wise but i believe he got rewarded for keeping his mouth shut and just doing what he agreed to when he signed the first contract, and for that he gets a huge thumbs up from me.

Little note for cheesey, I bought the Wii today with Wii fit so maybe we can hook up online and play sometime :)

I have to say Jennings is worth as much as Fitzgerald, and it's because of the stats. Jennings has a superior Yd/Rec, we all love to compare a hated running back by Yd/Rush. So if you give Jennings equal catches to Fitz then he could have had 1551 Yds. Jennings has a TD every 8.89 receptions while Fitz has a TD every 8.00 receptions, Fitz has him there.

Now I have no sense when it comes to GM talk and worth it or not. but compared to other receivers in the league he is right there.

Don't know if this has already been posted. Some nice stuff on Jennings' contract and a comparison to Marshall.

Wow. People are complaining about this? First we want a superstar and then we don't when we have one? Best.Signing.Ever minus the whole "feed my family" thing.

Thompson signed Woodson and Pickett when so and so was here. Woodson was signed for a fairly big contract. Enough to have a lot of complainers about it and I was skeptical myself. He also extended Bubba Franks which was a mistake as well Driver. I believe the contract Thompson gave to Franks made Franks pretty up there among tight-ends in dollars.

So the connect the dots just isn't there.

As far as Jennings stats. The deal will depend on more so what Jennings does in the future than now. All deals do, but Jennings also has ranked quite high in yards per reception. Steve Smith and Randy Moss like high so I'm not sure I would say he's overpaid, but if you believe there is such thing as a consistent market then perhaps, but the problem is eventually Boldin, Braylon Edwards, and Brandon Marshall will probably surpass Jennings in dollars and Jennings deal begin to look better.

Same thing applies for Rodgers. Rodgers' contract is going to look like nothing compared to what Phillip Rivers, Eli Manning, and Jay Cutler are probably going to be paid.

Seriously, this is what i think is wrong with your thinking. You are thinking that somehow Ted Thompson thought of BF as "the devil", when in fact ALL he ever looked at was the business sense. I doubt very much that he has ANY dislike for BF, except in the way he handled the whole "I don't wanna play, i wanna play, i don't wanna play, i wanna play" stuff. Ted Thompson looks at what HE sees as best for the Packers long term, and obviously he saw Favre as no longer worth 12 million a year. You can disagree with him, but that doesn't mean he was wrong.........or even right for that matter. He did his job as HE saw fit. Ted Thompson is also not "the devil". He was in a no win situation. Even if he would have let Favre play here last season, what about this coming season? No matter WHEN it had to be done, if he was in charge he was gonna tick off those fans that are mainly BF fans.

As far as the Wii.......mine isn't hooked up to the internet unfortunately. I'd LOVE to "hook up" with you though!!!LOLOLOL!!! :thumbleft:

Last season, he established career highs in receptions (80) and receiving yards (1,292) to go along with nine touchdowns.

Those are the facts so we don't get jumped on for not backing up our statements but look at those and the way the nfl is today those aren't superstar stats they are average stats. Wrs are going over 100 receptions and 1500 yards and double digit tds.

But he got what he deserved by being classy about the contract i think. But c'mon now would you pay 13 million to a little above average wr? Thats Fitz, Bolden, and Johnson money.

1st people said Jennings wouldnt sign the extension, now we hear it was to much money

No matter what Ted does, SOME people will bitch just to bitch..Ted could give people $100 bills and those people would bitch that they are not brand new $100 bills

Now back on topic..

New players or even 2nd year players that are starting to get good, should look at how Greg handled all of this..

He never once said a bad word and he got what he wanted..

I wish all players were that way

Good deal for the Pack and he's a killer receiver. No doubt Rodgers is happy to have this weapon locked up for a few years. :thumbright:

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately

Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
