"So if you've got a financial and/or an emotional investment in the Packers, how are you to react if Favre crosses over?

First, enjoy the spectacle, because this kind of warped, funhouse entertainment isn't likely to come this way again for at least a century or the No. 4 retirement ceremony at Lambeau, whichever comes first.

And second, don't be afraid to hope the inevitable comes to pass. For as insane as this might sound, the Vikings could actually be better off this season with Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels than our man Brett."

Interesting viewpoint, I tend to agree with most of this article.

This season we be an emotional powerhouse if this really comes to me. I know that Favre sounds sure, but what if at the last second he folds and decides to stay retired. Hey... you never know.

I think that this is a very good point.

Don't get me wrong, I think that he'll make them a lot better, especially for the first 10 games or something. Problem is, he tends to wind down a lot towards the end of the season over the past 4-5 years. That means that he'll not be the Favre you want when it matters most.

As I've mentioned many times to my wife the Vikings Fan, the thing you lose with Favre under center for the Vikings is unpredictability.

IMO, the Vikings would be best served w/ Jackson at QB, especially with the addition of Harvin. With Jackson, Harvin and Peterson on the field, what do you defend? Tough call. With Favre on the field, while he's a MUCH better traditional QB than Jackson or SR, you're going to be defending a known entity in the WC offense - IOW, Brad Childress' 'KickAss' variant.

Not saying Brett can't or won't succeed (though I'm amused at how everyone from the press to the fans continues to miss the glaring concerns on the O Line) - he's the best QB ever IMO and if anyone can run a WCO it's him. But Jackson played very well when they finally put him back in last year, and a decent O-coordinator could take a combination of him, AD and Harvin and create a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Which leads us back to Childress. Good luck, Brett.

Favre's been ignoring HC's for years, what makes Chilly any different? All you had to do was watch the look on MM's face after some of Favre's boneheaded audibles and you can see he did his own thing when he felt he was right (or when he wanted off the field ala his last pass as a Packer in the NFCCG).

I've also been pointing out the O-line issue as well as the average secondary MN has.

Childress is a bad coach, plain and simple and he's hoping against hope this year with Favre saves his job.

Favre is well past his prime and he's hoping against hope that he gets to beat the only team in the league he hasn't thus far. And rub Teddy's nose in it!

Well....i'm at the point where i hope he plays and gets it out of his system.
A losing season with the Vikings might just take care of that once and for all.
Unless he then tries to go to the Bears, or Lions.

I should say, to be fair, that if I had to choose between Childress calling a WCO and Favre calling a WCO, I'd go with Favre. Vikings fans should probably hope he ignores the coach altogether.

Agreed. For every boneheaded play he did in '07, he pulled two rabbits out of his hat and helped got us 14 wins, including a 7-1 record with NO running game whatsoever.

Childress playcalling is horrible. My God. He's definitely in the lower 50% for coaches playcalling.

In '08, he was looking near MVP until that bicep injury.

Someone mentioned how he breaks down near the end of the season. Solution simple - limit his throws. With AP, he has the best RB he's ever had. Finally an elite RB again like Ahman Green was in '03. Notice in '03, he led the NFL in TDs and threw very few passes. In fact, just looked at his career stats. '03 he threw less passes than any other season he started, with only 471.

With AP, hopefully once again he throws under 500 passes and he should be good for the season. If he tries to win every game himself, I think he will wear out and you'll only see 9-10 good games out of him and some really, really bad games at the end of the season.

The thing is, you can't get a full season out of the ass clowns MN has at QB anyways, so it's not like a loss for the Vikings to get Favre as a QB.

I'm actually hoping it happens. I'd love to see Favre with AP.

Zero2Cool (6m) : Jordan Davis was 13th overall

Zero2Cool (7m) : Eagles had 15th and 10th selections, moved to 13 and 9 to get Davis and Carter back to back
Zero2Cool (8m) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (18m) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (19m) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (21m) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (21m) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
