Yesterday, my wife took me to Alterra for coffee and a snack. I WANTED a cookie, but my wife gave me the "You have been doing so well, and a cookie is bad for your diabetes! Have something healthy, say, that sesame bar there!"
So, i took the sesame bar. (Tasted like cardboard.........i mean almost as good as cardboard)
Anyway........we ate, and sat there drinking coffee while a read a book. Suddenly, i noticed my eyes getting itchy. Then my mouth started to swell on the inside. ALLERGIC REACTION! Pain in my chest, my throat getting itchy inside.
So the wife rushes me to the clinic a mile away.
Yup.......allergic reaction. Got some pills for it, which worked pretty good. Doc made me get one of those pens with a needle that you can give yourself a shot to stop it. She said next time it could be life threatening.

What i don't get is, what the heck was i allergic to in that bar? I have known allergies to bananas, shrimp, and raw coconut. But not to any type of nuts like were in the bar.
I don't know if there was maybe coconut oil or something in it, or what!
(Or if Mrs. Cheesey set me up for insurance reasons!)
So my "healthy alternative" damn near killed me, and cost me $65.

I wonder if "the Old Man" made a trip to Grafton yesterday???
Or maybe one of the posters that has a lower daily post number then me......hmmmm......I wonder........ :thumbleft:

He got ya good with that one, Cheesey.

Gonna have to +1 the Rock.

I'm no expert, but for some reason I have developed an allergic reaction to bees that I never had. You can develop allergies later in life, I seem to recall being told at the hospital.

Non can correct me (You have an epi pen, Chessey) but an excellent "emergency until you get to hospital and don't have epi pen" solution is benadryl.

The last time I got stung, it was coming on me (the allergy) --- rather than go to the hospital, I just took a nice slug of liquid benadryl. It worked perfectly, and I can tell you I would have been in that ER had I not taken it. Knocked it down beautifully.

This is yet another example of the price you have to pay in this litigious society.

Ah, what the hell, I have become used to being featured in the little garden ornament's signatures...
