Remember back awhile when my wife and I went over to her Cousins home in Helena? We were going to spend the weekend at a B&B just outside of Helena back up in the mountains and we got snowed out.
Well, make-up date is this weekend. It's in the 80's and no snow........so far! But this time Randy and I got it all figured out. Us two guys are going to head over late tomorrow afternoon with the 4-wheelers.....take a scenic route from the cabin (where the 4-wheelers are stored) and head south over the mountains to the B&B. Distance on the map, about 40 miles. Distance up and down in elevation....from 3,100' to over 10,000' and down again. Probably closer to 60 miles all together. Cross the Continental Divide 3 times on the trip. This way, if we get snow, we got the 4-wheelers to get around on. Pretty smart thinking, huh?
The girls are driving up (chickens) and will meet us there. Randy figures about two cases of beer will do for the trip...I'm figuring three. My helmet is fixed....the mike actually works now...so Randy and I can communicate our beer stops much better. This is a pretty good route. All on old logging roads and fire roads. No drop-offs, but we'll definitely hit a lot of snow once we get above 6,500'. We got a GPS which sometimes works, and somewhat charged and useable cell phones, so what more can we ask for?
This is gonna be a blast.
Anyone for a Weenie Roast?
