Failure of the secondary in their assignments.

Not on the coaches. Correct defense for situation was called.

I don't know. I find it a very weird prevent play with some man coverage on the RB and what not. Why not just play a cover 3? Maybe a cover 4 and let someone drop back a little to plug up that hole in the middle. I wouldn't have called it, it's a weird combo coverage in my eyes that makes little sense.

Oh, a good part on the prevent defense btw.

Rabble rabble rabble.. we lost that momentum and game when Sherman chickened out to put the game away on 4th and 1... turned the game. The way we were running the ball and behind that line... bad decision.

* Edit... IMO. 😉

No one likes the prevent when it fails.

A lot of interceptions when you are most scared...

Anyone think that maybe some of our morons were thinking of jumping a route?

Look where they were.

I hate the prevent also.

If it has any value at all, 4th and 26th is the place to do it, no?

And Zero, they should have fired Sherman for that.

I agree. It was the perfect time for a prevent. I'm still not that big of a fan though. Get some underneath zones in there.

My problem here is not so much the prevent defense as that they're all to deep in it. I know that you should force them to make a short completion and then come up to make the play, but when a guy can make a completion 26 yards down the field while the DBs are all 30+ yards down, it makes no sense. Especially if you have 4 rushing, one guy wandering around and one guy man to man on the running back.

This would've been my call, I think.

3 Guys very deep. 3 guys around 20-28 yards. 1 Man on receiver 1. 1 Man on receiver 2. Put your best pass rushing combo on the field and fire away.

But still, like you said, it was more on the players than anything else.

The play (74 Double Go) called for a 25-yard slant running route for wide receiver Freddie Mitchell, and saw McNabb toss a perfect 28-yard strike to Mitchell deep into the Packers secondary. Mitchell was supposed to be covered shallow by Nick Barnett and deep by Darren Sharper, but Barnett was distracted by a tight end and didn't cover him. Sharper stayed well past the first down markers, inexplicably playing for an interception, which would have been a worse result than an incompletion because it would have resulted in a huge net loss of field position. Packer safety Bhawoh Jue saw Mitchell running free and ran over to deliver a hit, but he was too late. Mitchell completed a leaping reception and was brought down at the Packers 46, giving the Eagles a first down.

Something else I've learned through my experience is people who like to flame others, make repeated off topic posts and simply cause chaos; there goal is to get everyones attention. If everyone ignores their posts and carries on like they do not exist, I assure you, the thread will get back on topic and your experience here will be splendid.

There are times when the moderating team will step in and remedy the issue. However, we as a community can not expect that team to babysit the entire website. That is a unreasonable and selfish request.

If Member A makes an off topic post and Member B responds to it instead of the threads topic. BOTH members are at fault.

Personal Attacks:

If members are personally attacking one another, that is unacceptable and will be handled accordingly. If the unfortunate experience of being attacked by a member happens, please, do NOT respond to it adding to the fire. I would instead urge our members to the post and send a PM to one of the staff members. I understand when one is attacked first instinct is to defend yourself. Just know this, if you respond in a attackful manner, you falling into their trap.

4th and 26:

If a member brings up 4th and 26th, he is automatically a troublemaker, quite a Richard, and will be treated as such. He is a day ruiner, a quasi-piss-everyone else-off troll, and a hind-sighter. We simply will not tolerate this kind of behavior. Take your 4th and 26th and stick where the sun don't shine. We as a forum cannot deal with it.

j/k as always.

The call certainly should have been a blitz. As I said previously, the defense had sacked McNabb 8 times that game already. Their offensive line was porous as a sieve. To drop back into a prevent defense -- I don't care what the yardage was -- made no sense based on the rest of the game.

Then again, neither did punting on 4th and 1.

Then again, neither was putting the ball in overtime in the hands of a quarterback who'd had one of his most abysmal performances of the entire season. (15-28 for 180 yards . . . WTF?) We should have been running it down their throats in overtime, just as we had the entire game.

It was a piss-poorly coached game, and it still rankles on me. I will never forget the roar of rage I let out in the SportsUSA bar at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, when that pass sailed into the hands of the wrong guy.

So reminiscent of a similar roar I gave at Features Sports Bar and Grill in West Salem, Wisconsin, a few years later.

Brett Favre holds the distinction of being the only quarterback in the history of the game to throw two overtime interceptions in the playoffs. I have to force myself to think about other things because it still raises my blood pressure every time I ponder those two plays.

Refrigerator Perry and Ditka punking the Pack with his late game TD run when it wasn't needed... there is still a special place in the deep corners of the black section of my heart that loathes that SOB.. Ditka that is..
