So I wanted to see if there was a static correlation between picks and wins.. here is a list of a sample of 20 current and ALL Time Great QB's and a select number of stats..

So can one say that INT % is directly related to Winning % for an individual QB?

Pack - Another thing to point out. Let's take QB and SB wins.

Note that Bradshaw had 4 SB rings, which is more than anybody except for Montana. Take a look at Bradshaw's INT %. Ironically, it is the highest on the entire list.

Who's the guy with the lowest INT % of all? McNabb. And how many SB rings does he have?

Pack93z, what is the R^2 value for the correlation you mentioned? I'm going to guess it's somewhere around .85.

If my math is correct, .81. 😉

Beautiful!

Statistics tell you everything, don't they?

Wow, my estimate was off by a mere 4 percent! Not bad at all.

In the realm of statistics, a .81 R^2 is considered indicative of a pretty strong correlation, so it's safe to say events like Bradshaw's 4 rings are statistical outliers. I could do a Q test to confirm that hunch, but I'm in the middle of packing for drill, so I'll do that another time.

Either way, the statistics indicate that as a rule, a lower interception percentage is correlated with a higher winning percentage. Makes intuitive sense.

It's a great list, but what does it really say. Everyone knows that Bradshaw threw a lot of ints, same goes for Starr, but playing in different era's with different rules has a lot to do with that.

Also, all these guys have one thing in common. They had amazing teams. I mean, Eli Manning? He hasn't done diddly squat on that team. He's the most overrated QB in quite a while. Yet, with the backfield and defense, he can throw around freely while defenses are expecting the run.
