So i come into work today (i live in mn) and everyone starts saying how the refs cheated and were on the vikings side and made terrible calls. All i do is wonder if they watched the same game that i did. The game i saw flagged the Packers for every little thing, called back a TD, put the packers in first and 33 and made two terrible pass interference calls. Do vikings fans know anything about football?

The officiating was very poor on both side of the ball. Both the Vikings and the Packers were victims of bad calls last night.

A lot of the calls were OK - the teams were playing sloppy. But there were a couple on both sides that were very questionable. And the officials were not consistent, calling penalties some times but not others. Very frustrating to say the least.
"There's the snap, Rodgers with a quick drop - in trouble! AND SACKED BY ALLEN! The ball is lose, the ball is lose, and recovered by Kevin Williams! And that's the ball game! Childress and the Vikings FINALLY beat the Packers!"

Yep. Normally a Vikes/Pack game is something special for me. It was in a way for us Pack fans ushering in a new QB, but I found the refs really took away from my enjoyment last night.

Let's make that 200%. Bottom line was that the refs did not determine the final outcome of the game.

When I saw which officiating crew we had, all I could do was shake my head. They are ROUTINELY terrible and they didn't break from the pattern at all last night. There were at least 3 PI calls that should have been made but weren't on the Packers, and 2 long PI calls that shouldn't have been called but were on the Packers. I can't remember the last time I saw an illegal man downfield call on a long pass play where the blocker is completely out of the play. On a screen, yeah, of course. But on a slant/go route? Give me a break.
Combine that with a number of ticky tacky calls early on both sides of the ball and you just have an all around terrible effort by these hacks.
Like I've said a million times before, give me Carey for every game and I'll be thrilled.

The Vikes got four first downs by penalty and the Packers had three times as many penalty yards on twelve flags not to mention wiping out a 70+ yard TD by a flag.

I cannot see how anyone can say the refs favored the Packers here.

I had to chuckle a bit when ESPN did their late game Iso of Allen vs. Clifton, a couple of the shots showed Clifton holding Allen's jersey. No flags where thrown. But on the other side of the ball Kampman was held repeatedly without getting the benefit of a holding penalty.

I told my wife last night when I saw it was the Triplett(?) crew that the flags would be flying. The problem is they are both flag happy and inconsistent. A leverage call?, several holding/PI calls that were very borderline and others that were more obvious that did not get called.

What we saw was an inconsistent crew working their 1st regular season game, both teams playing their 1st regular season game, and GB having a somewhat makeshift OL possibly creating communication problems.

beast (14h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
