All change is evil.
I worked a chain once for a high school game. Since I was the newby they stuck me at the end. The ref told me where to put the stick and I did what I was told. I was only a couple of years out of high school it was a lot of fun. Sadly they didn't ask for my help again.

I'm confused, why the heck should we trust a "virtual" measurement? Especially if they're not explaining how they're doing the virtual measurement.

Because virtually, they could put the ball in the Playboy Mansion, that doesn't mean the NFL ball carrier carried it to that spot.

So what is marking the ball?

A human? A virtual human? AI? Computer? Is there a chip in the ball? How does the process work? As at the end of the day, someone or something has to choose a virtual spot for the virtual ball...

And how do we know that spot is realistic to what actually happened on the field?

It might be good, but I'm not going to trust it until I see more details, and see how it actually works....

Of course, I don't trust the NFL, I fully believe the NFL has changed rules mid-season, stated the rule has not changed, and ruled it incorrectly to what the stated rulebook says, for like 1.5 years and then updated the rulebook after seeing that it works.

So the NFL doesn't follow the rules... so I don't trust them either.

This does nothing to better the game. It's all about the point spread of the game and where the official places the ball. Put a chip in both in ends of the ball and all doubt will be removed. Just like, it's not how many voted, it's who counts the vote. And why don't they put cameras on the goal line?

This is where the quick review would come into play if it was a bang bang thing. All scoring plays are reviewed anyway so it's not an additional review. The ball/chip crossing the plan would just be a marker for them to review up to.

Outside of scoring plays. I'm just not sure how a chip would would help things.

I would like to see both used side by side. Continue same ole same ole with officials and also use new technology with chip thingy.

Just have the tracker mark where the ball is when the red blew the whistle or a second or two before the whistle is blown.

The physical technology has been there for decades for the NFL to upgrade, they simply have decided not to, as they want control and they can quietly control people more than they can control technology, as people will want access to the technology, where we can't get open and honest interviews from the Refs.

I still say the Fail Mary play and Saints getting screwed in the playoffs against the Rams were directly because the Refs were ordered not to call penalties in the last two minutes, and let the players play.

dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
