Not nessarily wanting this, but just throwing the idea out there.

Since the Browns seem to be sellers in the trade market and the Lions lost DE Aidan Hutchinson for the season, there have been fans rumors of the possibility of DE Za'Darius Smith going from the Browns to the Lions.

When asked about it, Za'Darius said he had not heard about the rumors, but that it's all upstairs decisions, not his and he rather the media ask them about it, instead of him. Then Za'Darius seemingly pointed out (I'm not sure if seriously or jokingly) that if traded to the Lions, he'd get to play against his former teams Packers and Lions, and that would feel good to him.

All this to finally suggest, with fans complaining that the Edge Rushers aren't getting the job done enough (I believe partly because the coaches/system is asking them to contain more and less the DTs be the free rushers more)...

But what about the idea of bringing Za'Darius back to the Pack?

Not sure it's a good idea (probably depends on cost and contract), but just thought it was interesting enough to mention, and get reactions.

I would say Preston Smith is the old man, over Gary.

I guess it depends on what those phases mean, as I would hope players don't purposely take a back seat... keep pushing to be the man!

But do it professionally...

no thanks.

I know he felt disrespected in that he wasn't voted captain again, and that felt that no one came to him to talk to him while he was injured.

And had a contract dispute with the Vikings, whom I believe were asking most of their players to take a pay cut and Smith certainly wasn't the only Vikings player whom had an issue with that. So I'm not sure if I count this, as what human would be happy with taking a pay cut for the same amount of work?

I don't currently remember anything else from the Vikings, Ravens or Browns.

Now they're the cornerstone pieces with huge contracts and the leaders of the team. If Za'Darius were to be brought back, would he fall in line behind them? Za'Darius seems to take things personally for reasons that are legitimate or feigned (I was unaware of no one communicating with him during his injury). When spoken to this week on the idea of being traded to the Lions, Za'Darius highlighted the fact that he would get an opportunity to square off vs Green Bay and Minnesota twice a year. I just have a hard time seeing him falling in line behind the younger guys that are the core of Green Bay.

Packers are on BYE this week and Tuesday is trade deadline. I think this is the best time to add someone. There's no game to prepare for on Sunday so the new player could come in, learn the system while coaches dish out a role for the new player so we can destroy the Bears November 17th.

I don't have a good idea what the correct trade back value would be, but I was thinking if C Myers is seriously hurt (or maybe even if he isn't), the Packers might look into trading for

Jaguars C Mitch Morse

Panthers have OL Brady Christensen, whom was drafted to play OT, but didn't work out there. Apparently he was their backup Center this year and based on PFF numbers he's been playing pretty well.

Not as good as Myers in pass protection, but also not far behind. And a hell lot better in run blocking, where Myers is dead last in the NFL (and it's not that close neither) while Christensen is 9th best.

Christensen started at LG in 2022, but has been a backup in 2023 and 2024 until injuries hit, and he's in the last year of his deal, so they might be willing to trade him, especially since the team seems to be sellers right now.
