This week Jordan Love signed a $220 million contract extension and became the third consecutive Green Bay Packers quarterback to become the league's highest paid player. With 13 league championships and four Super Bowl titles, the team’s rich history speaks volumes about its competitive edge. However Green Bay's uncanny ability to develop elite quarterbacks stands...

Brett Favre: The Foundation of Greatness
Brett Favre’s journey to Packers greatness began in 1992 when the Packers acquired him from the Atlanta Falcons. Green Bay sent a first round pick to the Falcons to acquire his services. Initially considered a raw and reckless talent, Favre’s potential was meticulously nurtured by Mike Holmgren and his coaching staff. His gunslinger mentality, coupled with his unparalleled work ethic, transformed him into one of the league’s most formidable quarterbacks.

Favre developed into a three-time MVP, leading the Packers to a Super Bowl victory in 1996. His infectious enthusiasm and unyielding drive were pivotal in revitalizing the franchise. In 2001 Favre became the highest-paid player in NFL history with the NFL’s first $100 million contract. This financial milestone underscored the Packers’ commitment to rewarding talent and setting the stage for future stars.

Aaron Rodgers: The Heir Apparent
The Packers again invested a first round pick in Aaron Rodgers in 2005. They knew they had found their quarterback of the future when he slipped to pick 24 of that year’s draft. Rodgers spent three years learning under Favre, honing his skills and preparing for his moment. This patient approach exemplified the Packers’ commitment to quarterback development and would become the blueprint for the future.

Rodgers’ rise to prominence was nothing short of spectacular. Taking over the reins in 2008, he established himself as one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks. Rodgers overcame the high expectations of a skeptical fanbase who were not yet ready to see their beloved MVP exit the scene. His precise passing, exceptional mobility, and football IQ set him apart. Rodgers led the Packers to a Super Bowl victory in the 2010 season, earning Super Bowl MVP honors. He would go on to win multiple league MVPs.

In 2022, Rodgers signed an extension the highest-paid player in NFL history, signing a four-year, $200 million contract. Rodgers’ career success was a testament to the franchise’s ability to identify and develop an exceptional quarterbacks.

Jordan Love: The Next Chapter
With Rodgers’ career entering its twilight, the Packers turned their attention to the future once more. In 2020, they selected Jordan Love in the first round of the NFL Draft. The decision was met with some skepticism, given Rodgers’ ongoing dominance, but the Packers’ front office had a plan.

Love’s development has followed a familiar path: patience, meticulous coaching, and incremental progress. By 2023, Love had shown enough promise to earn the starting role, and last week, he signed a record-breaking four-year, $220 million contract extension . This unprecedented deal not only made Love the highest-paid player in NFL history but also reinforced the Packers’ reputation as unparalleled developers of quarterback talent.

Love’s early performances have been encouraging, showcasing his strong arm, poise under pressure, and ability to make plays with his legs. The Packers’ investment in Love is already paying dividends, and his trajectory suggests he will continue the legacy of greatness established by Favre and Rodgers.

What about the winner of the first 2 Super Bowls and a total of 5 time NFL Championships. Winner of the first 2 Super Bowl MVPs. Plus NFL MVP back when QBs didn't automatically win the award.
Oh and he was the 200 player drafted. That was the 17th round.

Great.

Now let's find a great back-up for Love. A championship calibre roster should have a good back up. At this point, we do not.
Go Packers!!!!

Mucky Tundra (3h) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (3h) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (3h) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
Zero2Cool (4h) : Keep in mind, we do a draft reorder once all members locked in
Zero2Cool (4h) : You can have my 12th Rd for your 2nd round

beast (2-Aug) : I believe it's technically against the CBA rules, but Jerry just calls it a simple unofficial chat... and somehow gets away with it.
beast (2-Aug) : Jerry Jones is infamous for ̶n̶e̶g̶o̶t̶i̶a̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ chatting with players one on one... and going around the agent.
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Oo just saw a blurb saying that Dallas negotiated directly with Parsons and not through his agent
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I assumed that both guys will get paid, just a matter of when or how we get there
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : McLaurin nor Micah going anywhere. They will get money
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : the Synder years or do they take care of one of their own?
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Do the Commanders risk losing a top WR with an emerging QB just because he's turning 30 and potentially risk damaging the rebuild from
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : Turns 30 this September, plays at a high level and Washington has some cap space I believe
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : More interesting is Washington with Terry McLaurin
Mucky Tundra (1-Aug) : I would imagine Dallas will resolve this issue with a truckload of money
Zero2Cool (1-Aug) : Micah pulling a Myles with trade request

beast (30-Jul) : RIP site 😭
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site will die, I have to restart it.
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Quinn stinks. Lot of underthrows. (my guess)
beast (30-Jul) : How did Quinn Ewers effect where Golden was drafted?
dfosterf (30-Jul) : All I've experienced was late at night or early morning. I just figured you were doing something in the background
Zero2Cool (30-Jul) : Site sure seems to be down more than up
dfosterf (29-Jul) : 50 cent hookers? I'm moving to Green Bay. I thought it was just real estate that was more affordable there. 😂
Zero2Cool (29-Jul) : Sure seems site going down more than 50¢ hooker
Mucky Tundra (27-Jul) : Golden with two TDs in red zone drills today
