We got shoved towards the edge of the positional cliff talent-wise. The last of the acceptables imo for the first round. For that, I am pleased that Gute hung tough and did not crack under what must have been great pressure to move up. The next cliff looming is linebacker, and we are very close to the edge already going into tonight.
Unfortunate, but real. Probably unpopular.
Edggerrin Cooper, and a bunch of JAGS. That is about it in this draft. Everybody wants their guy, but LB is part of the weak link theory of relative positional value. It kind of sucks, but if Edgerrin Cooper is there at 41, we really should take him. My pedigree for this opinion is that I ran well over a hundred mocks going in to this draft and really reviewed what I wound up with. It is appropo to place this post here because Gute did what he had to do in the first round to navigate the channel in the dangerous rocks and shoals moving forward. Yes, I see Cooper Dejean if anyone is wondering about that.

1. senior bowl practice footage....nice feet.

3. David Bakhtiari 's RAS was 6.72....Morgan 9.24

4. From Forbes

In Morgan, Green Bay landed an extremely versatile player who will be given every chance to be the Packers’ left tackle of tomorrow. Morgan (6-5, 311) has terrific feet, outstanding athleticism and ran the 40-yard dash in 5.04 seconds at the NFL Combine....
Since 2022, Morgan has allowed just three sacks in 880 pass-blocking snaps. And of 96 FBS-level tackles in this draft class who played at least 650 offensive snaps, he ranked 14th in pass-blocking efficiency by Pro Football Focus..

6. Against a UCLA defense that featured Laiatu Latu, a first-team All-American who led the nation in tackles for losses per game and was the first defensive player selected on Thursday, Morgan allowed one pressure in 39 pass-protecting snaps, according to PFF. A team captain, Morgan was named first-team all-conference.

7. Sorry, I can't find it, but IIRC Gutey said they had contemplating trading up, but the guys they wanted did not fall far enough. I am hypothesizing that it was either Fashanu or Fuaga they were looking at as it would have been easy to get ahead of Pittsburgh for Fautanu

Having the benefit of a good night's sleep, I am happy with the pick.

Go Packers!!!!

25. Green Bay Packers: Jordan Morgan, OT/G, Arizona - Grade: B-
Some depth and versatility along the offensive line could go a long way for Green Bay, especially with Jordan Love's continued ascension and an impressive collection of young pass catchers in the fold. Morgan can hang at either guard or tackle, giving the Packers plenty of flexibility for its front. His hand usage and core strength could prove problematic, however, particularly as he first adapts to squaring off against more athletic and savvy pass rushers.

I don't think so, I don't believe teams are scouting other teams rosters and picks that closely because that also would depends on how a team sees their own needs and you'd have to scout the history of the 31 other teams, I don't think they go down that rabbit hole.

I assume they honestly just don't know where he's going to play yet. LT or OG, they just know he's an elite pass blocker and they'll let the coaches figure it out.

I think the best way to not tip your hand would of been to label him what he played in college, which was always LT. The fact that they're opening it to OL is more telling than keeping it the same.

The Dallas Cowboys were eyeing Packers' Jordan Morgan with 24th pick

According to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Clarence Hill Jr., Jones, in a post-selection interview session, told the media that the following players were prospects that he “coveted” with the 24th overall pick: Arizona tackle Jordan Morgan, Oklahoma tackle Tyler Guyton, Missouri defensive lineman Darius Robinson and Duke offensive lineman Graham Barton.

Regarding Dallas and their ability to identify talent, off the top of my head I want to say they've been pretty consistent in finding guys on the oline in the higher rounds.

Zero2Cool (48m) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (3h) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (4h) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (21h) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (22h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
