Given some of the drama around Williams supposedly wanting an ownership share in whatever team drafts him, I would lean towards Harrison and trying to grab a QB with my 2nd pick at #9 or trying to trade up for someone like Daniels. Problem for the Bears is that they dont have many picks to play with this year. It might behoove the Bears to trade down from #1, get a haul and go QB+BPA with their two top 10 picks.

Caleb Williams NFL ownership
Earlier this season, the NFL adopted a rule that prohibits giving equity in a franchise to current players or other employees within the organization. There were a number of reasons outlined by the league, including salary-cap complications and potential conflicts of interest.

The timing was not necessarily random. After the news of the rule broke in July, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported that Williams' representatives were letting prospective NFL teams know that the USC QB wanted partial ownership of whatever team selects him in the 2024 NFL Draft.

There has never been an active NFL player in the modern era that has also owned part of the team he plays for. Back in the 1920s, George Halas owned the Bears while he played, and then coached the team, but that was nearly 100 years ago.

Given the new rule implemented by the league, Williams' reported wish of being a player-owner won't come to fruition.

Just because two kids went to the same school doesn't mean they will turn out the same.

I doubt if the league has thought that far ahead to preclude such an arrangement.

Moreover, if the dude is this high maintenance, fogetaboutit.

Good points....If I were them, I would:
- trade down to 4 and pick up another 1st round pick
- take Harrison or Odunze
- take some O linemen with their two remaining first round picks

Re Williams. I don't think he is all that:
- He is only 6'1"
- IMO a system quarterback. His backup threw 5 touchdowns in the bowl game
- Prima Donna
- played (exclusively) in the PAC 12, i.e. poor defense.

The top 3 picks will most likely be QBs unless the Bears trade back to 3 and I would guess they would then grab Harrison Jr. So you grab the LSU kid then and you didn't lose any draft picks. That's just my thinking on the Cardinal's position.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
