I didn't say I "liked" Mike Sherman.

Just that he was more "successful" than Ted is at GM so far.

Food for thought, in my book.

I would sure like to know what your definition of a "successful" GM is that's for sure.

A "successful" GM takes a GOOD team and makes it GREAT.

A "succesful" GM takes whats been given to him which in this case was the best offensive line in the NFL and the best QB in his prime and you win SB's.

There is a huge difference in the task of a guy that HAS what he HAS and a guy that has to transition from what the previous guy had and still continue to win. Ms never had to deal with guys like Favre and Bubba, and Hondo and Flanny and Green getting old. He got them in their PRIME. He didn't even have to hardly deal with resigning anybody. Most of 'em were signed to long term deals by Wolfe before got there. Thank God.

If MS was a "succesful" GM why is it that they guy has not even gotten close to an interview for a GM job since he was canned? Could it be that because he failed miserably in the draft, whiffed on highend FA acquisitions resulting in an extemely precarious position with the Cap might have something to do with it?

Sorry........but you are wrong.
Sherman was handed a championship caliber team, and underacheived each year.
He was a so-so coach, and a lousy GM.
I liked him as a person, but he did little with the talent that was handed to him. If making the playoffs is your ONLY goal, yeah, he did great. But i don't remember any Super Bowl appearances in his time here.
And he was one of the big reasons we were in salary cap hell when Ted Thompson got here. Ted Thompson had to clean up the mess that our cap was before he could really start trying to build the team back up.

I think this thread is about Mm and Ted Thompson being fired or not. We don't need to discuss Sherman, at all here please. There's no comparison so let's not try. :)

Please, commence the bashing of Ted and Mike!

If he is..... I will support him... I will NOT Bitch about the draft, nor bitch about how fast he turned the team around. I will not bitch about how cheap he is..... I will not make fun of his hair. or his photos.

I will not call for his head after a 6-10 season.

I will not be a Brett Hater.

I will give him 5 years to prove he is on the right path and and THE FIRST YEAR AS G.M. DOES NOT COUNT.

I repeat.... THE FIRST YEARS RECORD DOES NOT COUNT. When Brett is G.M.

I WILL GIVE HIM THE SAME RESPECT AND SUPPORT I DO FOR EVERY PACKER GM.

I think Favre as a GM would be a hideous idea. The last thing you need in the front office of an NFL franchise is a guy who can't control his emotions and is prone to launching personal vendettas when he doesn't get his way. The job of GM requires a cool head and foresight, not to mention a willingness to roll with the punches and not take things personally.

Passion and fire can get you far on the football field. They can be disastrous when making personnel decisions under duress.

Couldn't agree more. Brett would be a TERRIBLE GM.

Imagine when a dispute with a player came up. Lord Favre would HAVE to get his way every time. It would be terrible.

ALL KNELL BEFORE LORD FAVRE!!!!

I think if we fail to win a playoff game this year, a new staff is something that we should start inquiring upon.
