My gosh, what is wrong with you? Coming in after back-to-back NFL MVP QB's, one who is in Hall of Fame and the other very likely to be in Hall of Fame, you have Packers trading UP to get WR, then also picking several TE's? Welcome to NFL ... here's a heavy dose of PRESSURE.

Please stop trying to create a problem...

Post June savings would save no cash, only cap space.

Extending Gary would cost cash, but because of NFL cap rules of signing bonuses, would actually free up cap space.

So no, you don't need to save cap space to complete an additional action that would also save cap space.

Both actions free up cap space, so I don't understand why you keep asking as if they would have opposite effects to cancel each other out.

You do realize how crazy this is, right?

You're asking if you can push cap forward, just so you can later move it back... if you want to free 2024 cap space then just don't do anything, no need to create extra work.

But sure, you can make four left turns just so you can make four rights turns, and have absolutely nothing change but waste a lot of gas and/or paper.

UPS trucks almost never take left-hand turns.
By favoring right-hand turns at all times – unless a left is unavoidable – the carrier saves millions of gallons of fuel each year, and avoids emissions equivalent to over 20,000 passenger cars.

I know USPS try to avoid left turns for that reason through and try to avoid going in reverse due to the safe hazards of not being able to see what the heck is behind you (also to save fuel there as well).

TV schedule impact. Hard Knocks impact. Jets land Rodgers, lots of Jets games scheduled. Woody seems averse to Hard Knocks, but this is mostly because he inherited his money and is stupid, but that's a whole different subject. If the Jets don't do this trade in the draft, it's time to truly open the market to all teams, and I don't believe the Packers have done so yet. Jets have so much to gain as regards franchise interest, but as their fans are wont to say, Jets being Jets. I bitched instantly when Aaron made his 90% retired comment, everyone else including Woody picked up on that eventually, apparently...
As a fan of this team since around 1960, fuck the Jets if they do not pull the trigger during the draft. Open it up to all teams, publicly, post draft, simultaneously explaining that Mr. Rodgers did it to himself (apparently) with his scaring his potential suitor. The only scenario going forward that is unacceptable is cutting Aaron. Do not cave, I say. As far as actual money goes, the ONLY team in the NFL that would care less about actual cash would be the Packers. It ain't any individuals money, and as everyone on earth would point out to the stockholders, there is no true accountability for money unless it got so tight as to be an existential threat, like a nuclear exchange with China or some shit... even then Packer fans would still go to the game, probably with dosimeters in the pro shop.
Bottom line. Hold firm. Fuck the Jets fuck the media.

Not sorry for the rant
I'm dug in.

For your assumptions to be correct,

1) the Packers would have to be willing to work harder, to purposely put themselves in a much worse spot.

2) Players would have to accept an extension will little to no signing bonus.

But yes, just for the sake of your theory, let's assume the Packers are purposely going to put themselves in a worse spot and players agent will refuse a signing bonus, purposely putting their player in a worse spot.

As for assumptions, the only one assuming here is you and quite honestly I'm getting a little sick of you repeatedly talking down to me like I'm an idiot. I'm just trying to have conversations, discussions and if you notice, that's what a forum is intended for. The talent in this draft it pretty even from after the top 10, down to the beginning of the 4th. All those players are on a roughly fairly similar level. Trading up gets you fewer picks in that range, although it gets you first dibs. I'd rather trade down and get more of those picks, even if it puts me further back in line.

I'm going to go out on a limb and call this bs.

It's about as substantial as Rodgers going to the Colts because he's close with McAfee, Rodgers going to the 49ers because he's from Cali and Rodgers going to the Lions because winning gets boring.

Is "BS" a term that's used in the Netherlands/Europe as well? Or do you have a better expression?

Zero2Cool (23m) : Sounds like Walker and Wyatt will be with Packers for beyond 2026

wpr (3h) : Only 4
wpr (3h) : Only 4
Zero2Cool (6h) : If only we had a topic to read about and discuss it. That's something new website must have!!!
dfosterf (6h) : Justice Musqueda over at Acme Packing put up an excellent synopsis of the Packers 1st round options this am
wpr (19-Apr) : 5 days
beast (18-Apr) : 6 days
wpr (17-Apr) : 7 days
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
