“The Packers are rebuilding, whether you think so or not,” tackle David Bakhtiari sad. “Could they be good? I don’t know. Could they be bad? Probably if you’re betting more people are gonna think they’re gonna be bad than good, right? Isn’t that fair to say? So then they’ll be like, ‘Well, we’re gonna suck anyways. We want what we want, and we’re not gonna bend to anyone. So we’ll just eat it. . . . We’ll pay you, we don’t care. If we’re gonna do it our way, it’s gonna be on our terms. If not, what are we gonna be, Super Bowl contenders anyway? So we’ll eat it, you can hang on the side. We’ll pay you your money, and then we’ll suck anyways, get the picks, as compared to dealing him for something that you shouldn’t have.”

I posed this very thing weeks ago. Under different context, but Carson Palmer? Carson's agent was? Hmmm

Maybe I'd the person running the show is petty, but at the end of the day, it's a business, and they do whatever best for business.

Having Rodgers actually show up or retire could be worse case scenarios for them. Could the Packers do it, yeah...

But why? You save cash and get trade picks for trading him...

Maybe threaten that if you want to turn the screws in the Jets owner, whom has the longest current playoff drought in US major team sports.

But at the end of the year, Rodgers isn't going to be with the Packers.

While keeping Aaron Rodgers is doable, I don't see it happening. Firstly, there are too many incentives to trade him, even if what they get in return isn't significant. But secondly, I don't think Aaron is vindictive enough to show up and hang around the building to cash a check. I think he would retire if a trade can't be worked out. But stranger things have happened, and Aaron is very good at holding a grudge, so who knows?

I find it interesting the way that Bahktari is talking here. Specifically referring to the Packers as they rather than we, almost in the past tense. That could be reading too much into it, but he sounds checked out and generally pessimistic about the team.

Also interesting is the contrast between what Bahk said and Elgton Jenkins' recent words :

“It’s going to be a big change,” Jenkins said. “It’s going to be a big difference. You’ve got a Hall of Fame quarterback that you’ve been playing in front of for the last four years. I’ll say mentally, it’s probably going to be different because he’s been playing the game for so many years. But like I said, I feel like we’ll be good.”

It will be interesting to see how the team comes together with Jordan Love as the starter. Do they need to kind of clean house and bring in young guys that will rally around Love? Or do they already have those guys on the team? Seeing what Aaron Jones has been saying gives me some optimism.

So, the Packers could be the "scorned lover" here. But damn, do you really cut your nose off to spite your face?

I am guessing the question may have been posed "What do you think management is thinking?"  If so, his reply would have been perfectly understandable, and the 'they'' language is no big deal.  If not, it is a bit sad, especially from a guy who has earned alot of money on I.R.

So context is important

In having watched the whole interview. It wasn't alarming at all. He said we numerous times as well. I'm not seeing that getting mentioned by the clown media.

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
