You ever ask your self why the Green Bay Packers are so eager to move on from a four time NFL MVP who one season removed from back to back MVP's and one season removed from three 13 win seasons? Doesn't that seem kind of strange? Are the Packers front office that ignorant or is there something else going on?

Reports were that the Packers were ecstatic when Jordan Love pick was made. Are they really that high on the kid?

What do you think is gong on over there in ole 1265?

Things I read about J. Love as a rookie going into the 2020 draft.

A poor man's Patrick Mahones.
As high of a ceiling of any of the rookie qb's in the 2020 draft.
Best scenario is to be able to sit and learn, not ready to be a 1st year starter.
Will be the last qb drafted in the 1st round.

So , disregarding all of the "talking heads" in the media and all the "online GM's ", I think Gute and Lefleur (Murphy excluded) were and are happy with the pick.

Only time will tell if J. Love is Qb1 for now and the future
I copied this quote from Matt LaFleur about J. Love

He's a really good athlete," LaFleur said. "He's able to get out on the edge and create off-schedule, and that's something that can make it hard for the defense to defend against. He's a natural thrower. I thought he showed fearlessness on tape, the ability to stand in there and maintain poise and confidence when things were falling apart around him. That's a prerequisite for playing in this league. You've got to have that ability where you're not going to flinch under pressure. Demeanor-wise, he's really even keel, which is good. He's pretty intelligent. His recall of what he did at Utah State really stood out when we had him on a Zoom interview. I thought he handled himself well in the interview. And he took accountability. Not everything we showed him was great. We gave him a lot of 'What happened here?' and he owned it every time it was a bad play."
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

All I've heard is Aaron's version. I'm waiting for the Green Bay version. Pat McAfee is effectively a shill for Aaron's perspectives. I submit the question cannot be answered yet.

They are in a box.

As Peabody said to Sherman ...."Set the way back machine to 2020."

They could not have known  that at Rodgers age, he was going to put those years together...they thought he was going to be done.  So they drafted the kid thinking in 3 years Rodgers would be gone without knowing Rodgers was going to be reinvigorated and play so well.  Then they gave Rodgers too much money, and now they are caught between a rock and a hard-place.

They had probably projected that  money they were paying Rodgers now might have been spent on the pieces they are missing, but Rodgers great play in 20 and 21 changed all that.

With the benefit of 2020 hindsight (get it, 2020 draft...oh my, am I clever) i.e. if they knew Rodgers was going to be that strong in 20 and 21, they wouldn't have drafted Love, although they can and will never admit that.

They must realize that they simply don't have the roster to compete with the top NFC teams (much less AFC teams) ergo have to punt 12, even though there may be consider gas left in the Rodgers tank.
Go Packers!!!!

Rodgers said he was 90% going to retire before coming out of the darkness and hearing from players that Packers are shopping him, after he wouldn't return the Packers calls.

They drafted Love to start... I said well before Love's draft he would take three years to develop (I thought the Patriots would be drafting him), and now that he appears to have finally developed to be a low starter, he needs game experience to get to the next level in his development.

This isn't about Rodgers, this is about the future, and Rodgers (planning on retiring) isn't part of it. They need Love to develop, or find a new QB elsewhere.

You said well before the draft that it would take Jordan Love three years to develop. Buddy. Pal. Comrade.  That's basically what is said about every rookie. It takes three years. Yes, there are some who come out of a cannon, but generally, it takes 2-3 years. 🙂

Nah, that's cool if you thought that about Jordan Love. I agree, but I also feel that way about every rookie so my sentiments are baseless and useless.

I do think part of it is around Aaron Rodgers though. I think his play has dipped and I said that during his last MVP season too. I feel Davante Adams bailed Rodgers and Packers out. Adams left and his numbers were about the same. Packers? Rodgers? Big drop. I think this is more or less the perfect storm. Jordan Love is coming into his own, it's time for him, and Rodgers is on the downstroke. Also, it really seems Rodgers hasn't wanted to be here for a few years, BUT didn't want the fans turning on him. As I said many weeks ago in a beautifully written post that no one read ... sometimes you have to love someone enough to let them go. It is time.

TheKanataThrilla (4h) : If I was Philly I would try to end it instead of punting it
Mucky Tundra (4h) : VICTORY! We have (moral) victory!
TheKanataThrilla (4h) : Hey they mentioned that we 3-peted
Mucky Tundra (5h) : seems to me the 49ers should have traded Aiyuk when they had the chance
Mucky Tundra (5h) : if the Eagles get it down to the 1, do they Tush Push or give it to Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (5h) : 49ers have a money problem if they want to sign their QB
Mucky Tundra (5h) : Wait for real? Didn't he just get an extension two years ago?
    Zero2Cool (5h) : 49ers gonna trade Deebo. Interesting
TheKanataThrilla (5h) : Replays always never seem to show the holdings
TheKanataThrilla (5h) : Great throw by Hurts
Mucky Tundra (5h) : Where Carter falls prey to bad off the field influences (to be clear, not saying he'd clip someone though)
Mucky Tundra (5h) : Had Carter not gone to Philly were they already had a lot of old college friends, he ends up in a similar spot to Aaron Hernandez
Mucky Tundra (5h) : I think some of his coaches told scouts to stay away
Mucky Tundra (5h) : the street racing incident+conditioning and motivation problems
beast (5h) : Then Carter was street racing, where the other car crashed and people died... and other teams were scared to pick Carter for some reason
beast (5h) : I think the Saints traded up, giving their next year 1st to the Eagles, and then they sucked and Eagles got the 10th overall pick
    packerfanoutwest (5h) : wtf Barkley?
TheKanataThrilla (6h) : Getting Carter and Nolan Smith in the first round in 2023 was pretty darn good
Mucky Tundra (6h) : for some reason i'm thinking of a draft where the Eagles where in the mid 20s and a top player fell all the way to them
TheKanataThrilla (6h) : I think so. I would need to look it up. Think it may have been Carolina's pick.
Mucky Tundra (6h) : i'm not sure who i'm thinking of now
Mucky Tundra (6h) : oh fuck me i messed that up
    Zero2Cool (6h) : Jordan Davis was 13th overall
    Zero2Cool (6h) : Carter was 9th overall
Zero2Cool (6h) : Eagles had 15th and 10th selections, moved to 13 and 9 to get Davis and Carter back to back
Zero2Cool (6h) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (6h) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (6h) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (6h) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (6h) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
packerfanoutwest (6h) : another crap halftime show
TheKanataThrilla (6h) : I think it is over, but then I think of Atlanta and want Philly to go in with the same intensity in the second half
Mucky Tundra (6h) : And with a Pass Rush that might as well be on a milk cartoon and no Jaire
Martha Careful (6h) : I cant help but feel good about how well the Packers D played in Philly during the playoffs
Mucky Tundra (6h) : this game is over
Mucky Tundra (6h) : This might be the kill shot here
Mucky Tundra (7h) : oh that's such a bad penalty for KC after getting the 3rd down stop
TheKanataThrilla (7h) : Philly DL has come to play
TheKanataThrilla (7h) : Ceoper DeJean with the INT scored...bad memories of draft night
Mucky Tundra (7h) : ok scratch that
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Game feels like last years Super Bowl: 49ers started off in control, moved the ball well but didn't have much of a lead to show for it
TheKanataThrilla (7h) : KC jumped and they call it on Eagles. WTF refs
TheKanataThrilla (7h) : If he was offside why did you let him pop the QB?
TheKanataThrilla (7h) : I like that Eagles are controlling time of possession so far.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : If the Eagles are going to win, this is how they do it: jump all over the Chiefs and don't let it turn into a close one
TheKanataThrilla (7h) : Bad throw created that penalty.
TheKanataThrilla (8h) : Amazed Philly got that hit to the helmet call.
