Defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s unit ranked a mediocre 17th in yards and points but finished the season on the rise.

Not surprised. Can't say I am disappointed either. Not without knowing they had a replacement waiting in the wings that would be an unqualified upgrade.

Packers had a lot of discipline related issues. And I think they were mostly, if not all, on the defensive side of the ball.

I’ll give him credit for having a better performance in December. But I haven’t forgotten about the other 3 months of the season. He still plays too conservative most of the time in my opinion.

Another thing is the players didn’t quit on him this year. I don’t know if that’s because they are buying into what he’s coaching, or if it’s more of a testament to the players we have.

Regardless, if Jim Leonhard is available & interested, I would move on from Barry. If Leonhard is not interested, I can see why they would keep Barry.

That didn’t happen, and usually when you have such a highly talented unit that underperforms so badly, that’s a coaching problem. His lack of adjustments in many areas (play calling, scheme, moving players around, etc) this year was glaring, and it took until December to see anything change. It also took his players telling him what to do in order to see success. That’s horrible.

Unfortunately, similar things can be said about LaFleur.
