When the third quarter started the sideline reporter said that Head Coach Matt LaFleur was not happy with the low effort and low energy of the team. It reminded me of a quote from Jack Lambert. "I could never understand why some people had to be motivated". I remember being in my early teens when I heard that quote and I agreed. It's football! Then something funny happened. I got older, gained more experience and got more mature and realized something. Athletes are human beings. Everyone is different. It's about that North Star, what is your North Star? That thing that you're always striving for, you know what I mean?

I think the game is different today than it was decades ago in one big aspect. Back then, it was more about team, doing what you can to help the team win the Championship. Maybe I'm being curmudgeon here, but it seems to me there are more "me" players worrying about their "brand" as their North Star than the team winning the Super Bowl.

This is where I feel the Head Coach comes into play. The HC is responsible for putting that North Star in front of everyone, that carrot dangling in front of them. We've seen the LaFleur Packers flop consistently when they've had time off between games. The Packers have come out with little to no urgency.

As I type this, I wonder how much our Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has to do with this. I can't say many teams lead by Rodgers have had much urgency either. 🤔

Back in the 1960s, when I was watching the Packers, the players goal was to win a championship. They were not getting hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to play. Most had to take jobs in the off season to make ends meet.
Now, many play to get the big payday and to jump to whoever will give them the most money.
Teams don't stay together like they did in the "old days", so it's much harder to build a real feeling of TEAM.
That's my opinion, and that all it is, what I think.

To me, its not so much the Packers were low energy, but the Vikings were high. This was their SB. Teams are gunning for us now.

Gotta stand up and punch em in the nose.

Naaaaaa as I think they actually have a better team than us so they are looking for the big game. And if you think of it under Rodgers since that Super Bowl win, we are the old Vikes that you knew were going to choke their Super Bowl chances away.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.

Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
