Beast's too early 53 man roster prediction for 2022 season.

I start off with the PUP and Suspensions list, as far as I know, we don't have any suspended players (yet), but OL Jenkins, TE Tonyan and RB Hill did get serious injuries late in the season.

PUP (4)
• OL Jenkins
  • TE Tonyan
  • RB Hill
  • OLB Ramsey
• OFFENSE (25)QB:
• Rodgers
  • Love
• RB:
• Jones
  • Dillon
  • Taylor
• The only real argument on offense I see is 3rd string RB, and I went with Taylor due to experience in the system, and LaFleur has made him sound extremely smart, claiming his notes looks like a QBs notebook and he's learned the scheme for the entire team, not just the RBs.WR:
• Cobb
  • Lazard
  • Watkins
  • Rodgers
  • Watson
  • Doubs
  • Toure
• TE:
• Lewis
  • Deguara
  • Davis
  • Dafney
• OL:
• Bakhtiari
  • Runyan
  • Myers
  • Newman
  • Nijman
  • Rhyan
  • Tom
  • Van Lanen
  • Hanson
• Unless some players come off the PUP list, I don't think there is that much to argue about on the offensive side of the ball, other than whom is the 3rd RB and maybe last spot(s) on OL.The rookie WR draft picks, are either flashing potential, and/or too high of a pick to release. TE is locked up unless Tonyan returns and you need to release one. Same with OL except OT Walker hasn't shown much (yet) and Van Lanen and Hanson seem to be their versatile backups that are occasionally getting 1st string reps.DEFENSE (25)DL:
• Clark
  • Lowry
  • Reed
  • Wyatt
  • Slaton
• The top 5 seem locked, I could see making a case for keeping NT Ford, or trying to sneak him into the PS. But last year the Packers kept 6th DL and basically never used the 6th one. But they could do it again, if the 6th DL earns a spot.OLB:
• Gary
  • Smith
Galeai
Enagbare
Garvin
• I think Galeai is the #3 OLB by default right now, not much competition... and while 5th round picks aren't locks to make the roster, with the lack of depth at OLB, seems like it should help Enagbare, though he probably needs time to develop... and as of right now Hamilton is probably in the last roster spot, but again that's by default as Ramsey and Garvin are injured... but if they can get healthy, I think they're more talented and make it over Hamilton, of course, I could see Gute keeping an eye out for others as well here.ILB:

Campbell
Walker
Barnes
McDuffie
I think the top three are basically locks, and McDuffie supposively looks improved. Though normally the Packers have kept 5 ILBers, keep an eye out for S Carpenter, whom they said they would be putting at ILB, but so far they haven't, but I think the game plan could still be for him to backup both S and ILB in time.CB:

Alexander
Stokes
Douglas
Jean-Charles
Nixon
Gafford
Top three are locks, Jean-Charles seems to have a good lead as the #4 CB, Nixon was a ST ace for the Raiders... and I think the last spot is a huge question mark, where I even considered going with a 6th S instead of a 6th CB, but here I went with CB Rico Gafford whom has also spent time on the Raiders STs and Gafford has amazing speed and can be a return man as well. But I think the 6th CB is up for grabs right now.S:

Amos
Savage
Scott
Carpenter
Leavitt
Top 2 are locks and Scott seems to be a good spot for #3 Safety. I think Carpenter is going to surprise some and make it due to ST duties, with LB size and S athletic skills. I went with Leavitt due to his time with the Raiders STs as well. Though I strongly considered keeping Leavitt and Davis and releasing either S Carpenter (but he's backup up the LBers too) or CB Gafford, but I like having 6 CBs .SPECIAL TEAMS (3)

K: Crosby
P: O'Donnell
LS: Coco
Supposedly LS Coco is looking like the front runner in the LS battle.

Update in bold is the updated changes.

    PUP (3)
• LT David Bakhtiari
  • K Mason Crosby
  • RB Kylin Hill
• This isn't a prediction, just everyone left on the PUP list, all recovering from procedures on their knee.
    OFFENSE (25)
    QB:
• Rodgers
  • Love
• RB:
• Jones
  • Dillon
  • Goodson
• Packers.com depth chart list Goodson as 2nd string with Dillon, and looking at Goodson's highlights, I think he can be used in the RB/WR speed gadget roles, and far wide zone and pass catcher to the outside. Basically Goodson might be the best fit for a gadget role.WR:
• Cobb
  • Lazard
  • Watkins
  • Rodgers
  • Watson
  • Doubs
  • Toure
• TE:
• Tonyan
  • Lewis
  • Deguara
  • Davis
  • Dafney
• OL:
• Jenkins
  • Runyan
  • Myers
  • Newman
  • Nijman
  • Rhyan
  • Tom
  • Hanson
Released Van Lanen
  • The only offensive argument I had was final 2 spots for 3 positions... it was 7th WR vs 5th TE vs 9th OL... and normally I'd say you got to get rid of the WR or TE... BUT I just haven't heard/seen enough from the backup OL... and HOPEFULLY Bakhtiari is coming back... and then it will be 7th WR vs 5th TE, which I think will depend on if LaFleur I expecting to run more 3 WRs/1 TE sets or more 2 WRs / 2 TE sets... if 3 WRs, go with the WR, if 2 TEs, go with the TE.DEFENSE (25)DL:
• Clark
  • Lowry
  • Reed
  • Wyatt
  • Slaton
• OLB:
• Gary
  • Smith
  • Galeai
Garvin
Enagbare
• ILB:

Campbell
Walker
Barnes
McDuffie
CB:

Alexander
Stokes
Douglas
Jean-Charles
Nixon
Gafford
S:

Amos
Savage
Scott
Gaines
Carpenter
Packers.com depth chart list Gaines as 2nd string S. LaFleur said the only long term injury from the 49ers game was S Leavitt, so I think that hurt his chances. Note of the guys that played at least 10 ST snaps I'm the first preseason game, all of them made this roster except S Leavitt and ILB Wilborn, which I think are top potential guys to make it for STs, but I only have one spot left for them and I'm thinking it might go to S/ILB tweener Carpenter, whom had 9 ST snaps.SPECIAL TEAMS (3)

K: Ramiz Ahmed (only healthy kicker currently on the roster, even though he just signed).
P: O'Donnell
LS: Coco
Kicker could change at any moment, or whenever Crosby gets healthy.

They released TE Dafney, and Rodgers has talked about using RBs Jones and Dillon in the same sets, which has me thinking they could keep 4 RBs, also I wanted to change the list format.

PUP (3): LT David Bakhtiari, K Mason Crosby, RB Kylin Hill

This isn't a prediction, just everyone left on the PUP list, all recovering from procedures on their knee.

    OFFENSE (25)
    QB (2): Rodgers, Love

RB (4): Jones, Dillon, Goodson, Taylor

Rodgers has talked about using Jones and Dillon at the same time, which is making me think they should keep an extra RB for depth. I'm not really sold on Taylor sticking, and maybe it should be another STer instead, but if Packers are planning to run a lot of two RB sets, then they need more RB depth I'm case on injuries, as RBs seem to take harder hits and get banged up quicker. If I was the Packers, I might keep Hill on the PUP to start the season, even if he's healthy, and let him come back mid-season. Though he might not be healthy enough to come back sooner anyways.

WR (6) Lazard, Cobb, Watkins, Rodgers, Watson, Doubs

Rodgers seemed to talk about 2 RBs formations, but also talked about how 2 TEs formations we're their best last year before Tonyan got injured, so based on Rodgers comments, I'm thinking they're not thinking of running more 3 WRs sets right now, which makes it harder to argue to keep a 7th WR other than for STs. If for STs, Winfree seems like he'd be the guy. But Tonyan, Aaron Jones and RB Goodson can be used as a WRs too.

TE (4): Tonyan, Lewis, Deguara, Davis

OL (9): Nijman, Runyan, Myers, Newman, Jenkins, Rhyan, Tom, Hanson, Van Lanen

If Bakhtiari makes it back, then Van Lanen doesn't make it.

    DEFENSE (25)
DL (5): Clark, Reed, Lowry, Wyatt, Slaton

Though it seems like a very good battle for the #6 spot with Heflin, Ford and Slayton, and if you can use them as lineman on STs, they might be able to earn a spot, but ST corridor has even mentioned using starters like Bakhtiari on FG protection, so I think that hurts these guys chances.

OLB (5): Gary, Smith, Galeai, Garvin, Enagbare

Sounds like all the backup OLBers are flashing once in a while, but not enough, I'm going with those that I think have the most physical potential, and started the 49ers game and the recent draft pick with super long arms, which the Rams seemed to love super long arms when they ran this scheme.

ILB (5) Campbell, Walker, Barnes, McDuffie, Wilborn

When the team broke up between top guys and clear backups for the first Saints practice, it was Campbell, Walker and Wilborn in the top guys group... and Wilborn is on a lot of the ST units, and Packers under Gute have kept 5 ILBers more than I prefer. (usually you only need 3 for defense).

CB (6): Aexander, Stokes, Douglas, Jean-Charles, Nixon, Gafford

If healthy, the top 5 spots seemed locked, Gafford might not be the 6th best CB after playing WR the last four years, but Gafford seems like he's on all the ST units, and might be the top gunner with his elite speed and he's listed on the Packers depth chart as #1 Kick returner. That being said, I believe CB Thomas made two ST tackles in the 49ers game, and didn't make a glaring coverage error on defense like Gafford when he slipped and let a guy run past him.

S (4): Amos, Savage, Scott, Gaines

With four Safeties banged up (Leavitt, Carpenter, Savage and Gaines) it's basically impossible to tell whom is the #4 Safety right now. Last updated Packers.com depth chart has Gaines, so I'm going with that... but Davis is actually healthy and making some plays, Leavitt has plenty of ST ability and experience, and Carpenter has S/ILB ability and ST potential though) it very well could come down to who's healthy...

    SPECIAL TEAMS (3)
    K: Ahmed
    P: O'Donnell
    LS: Coco

Kicker could change at any moment, or whenever Crosby gets healthy, but currently Ahmed is the only healthy kicker on the roster, and he supposedly hit two 50+ yarders with room to spare and kicked a 61 yarder in the USFL.

beast (27m) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (28m) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (29m) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (4h) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (4h) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (5h) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (6h) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (6h) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (7h) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (9h) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (10h) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
