I mentioned this a couple of times in the chat during the draft.. he could be a bridge for a year or two at tackle.. or longer if he pans out.

Bengals Will Trade Or Cut Levi Jones

With left tackle Andre Smith secured via the sixth overall pick in the draft, the Cincinnati Bengals now plan to drop a first-round pick from seven years ago.

According to James Walker of ESPN.com, the Bengals have informed Levi Jones that they plan to trade or cut him.

Per Walker, the Bengals kept Jones in the event that they didnt emerge from the draft with a replacement.

Nothing has happened so far, but we expect something to happen very shortly, agent Kenny Zuckerman of Priority Sports told Walker. The Bengals told me it was highly likely that he would be traded or released.

Per NFLPA records, Jones is under contract for four more years, at base salaries of $3 million in 2009, $3.75 million in 2010, $4.55 million in 2011, and $5 million in 2012.

Coincidentally, Smith hired last week agent Rick Smith. Of Priority Sports. And so as one client of the firm becomes the new left tackle of the Bengals, another client of the firm is losing that same gig.

i don't see this happening, especially if it ends up to be a trade scenario rather than him being released and becoming a free agent. too old. will cost too much. I know Ted Thompson surprised us on draft day, but Ted Thompson is still Ted Thompson.

I would look into it. I'd like to see Vonnie Holiday brought in to be honest.

Levi is only 29 years old.. hardly over the hill.. should be in his prime years yet..

$. he's been injured too, and along with earning lots of money, he's kind of a gamble.

This guy plays Tackle, on the offensive side. Why are we mentioning DT/NT's at all here?

And for a guy in his prime who's about to be cut... don't want him.
