Not a bad pick, IMO - he could wash out, but he could also bulk up and grow into a great DE for us.

I don't think it is a bad pick.. but one that makes you go what?

The "what" is where does he play? Definitely not fast enough (5.03) to play outside and not bottom heavy enough to the play the 3-4 DE out of the gate.. A monty type player without the burst... For where they picked him.. I have no problems taking a flyer on guy...

Just reading a touch about him.. it is where does he fit.

Well, the impression I get is that they intend for him to grow into a DE and feel like he can add some mass on his frame to get there - so I think they're more focused on where he'll fit in a year or two (which, when you think about 3-4 DEs, is about average - they almost always have to be grown and groomed).

He seemed to ascend at a good time - whether that was a fluke or we're picking him on the upswing, we'll have to see over time.

He's a hair under 6-3 so he'll probably try to get up to 290 and play DE. That's why he was picked. I certainly don't expect him to contribute right away, but Raji, Pickett, Jolly, Harrell, and Jenkins are all probably going to play some DE in this scheme. Montgomery too.

Kiper gives the Packers a grade of A for the draft and has them as a playoff contender. He also says we got 5 starters from the draft.

it's nice to get the accolades, but either positive or negative, we still know that it'll be a few years before this year's draft can be legitimately graded. Still, it's nice to hear.

David - I thought with a few patches last year we had the potential to be a Playoff team. Keep in mind we had the #5 O. Yes, we were 6-10 but we also scored more points than our opponents and when we lost, it was generally by a TD or less.

2 1st round picks for D, and they're the 2 areas we're weak.

Plus, we got a few STs guys; something we needed. I would have liked a KO guy, but that didn't happen.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this draft.

I love the Bears draft. I'd give them a B too.

Lions are a C that will be an A if Stafford is good or a D if he's not assuming they get a few other players to play.

Vikings are average too.

Kiper is good at what he does. I don't agree all the time, but he does know his stuff.
