It's still early in Gute's GM career, but something interesting that we might want to follow going forward.

So far (before the 2nd round of the 2022 draft) Gute has made made 17 selection in the top 4 rounds so far. Of those 17, only 2 of them (11.76%) have been outside the SEC, Big 10 and ACC.

In other words, so far, 88% chance that top 4 round picks will be from the SEC, Big 10 or ACC.

Of course, that percentage will change more (up or down) today as Packers will have some selections in the 2nd and 3rd round.

works for me. The big time schools have programs that are geared to turning out players who can make it in the NFL. There are those few who come from smaller programs but they are the exception.

I do get a bit worried if the team is so stacked. Are our 2 defensive players a product of being on a great team or are they going to be great NFLers? I often like when I see a player who visibly stands-out on an otherwise pretty mediocre team.

I can see that. On the flip side if you can start on a team that is stacked with outstanding players, chances are you are an outstanding players as well. Thus the need for teams to dig deep. Did a guy excel because he played next to a better player who got all the double teams or what.
