Packers CEO Gives Gloomy Update on Possible Aaron Rodgers Return

Kind of just a filler piece.

“We are significantly over the salary cap for next year and will have to make many difficult decisions in order to get under the cap,” Murphy said for Packers.com. “A key factor will be whether Aaron Rodgers comes back for the 2022 season.”

Murphy did clarify that he wants Rodgers back in 2022. However, his comments about money seem to suggest otherwise.

I think he's just trying to set a shield, because Packers are going to either not try to resign some fan favorites or release or trade some.

And weather Rodgers comes back will determine if they go all in, or if they're sellers.

In one Pat McAfee discussion, Rodgers seemed like he wanted to go out on top, and he noted there's multiple ways to be on top... which got me thinking, if he wins back to back MVP votes, then there's a larger chance he retires, as he's "on top", at least individually.

Worst case scenario is Rodgers retires... then we're tagging Adams, and maybe or maybe not trading him.

After all the crap from all last off season, I'm not holding my breath or getting worked up about any of it. What is going to happen will happen whether or not how I feel about it.
When the dust settles, then I will care.

You know Brett and Aaron are buddies now so AR is calling and asking him for advice on how to do this "is he coming back or not" yearly thing lol.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)
