A CBS prognosticator has Burks going at 13. I'm not one who delves very deep into the mocks because 99% of them are wrong. Especially outside of the top 5 picks. I admire the effort you put in to this. Not my thing.

We have some developmental guys on the line I want to add another stud and solidify things. When we get to big games they seem to disappear. How about Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State?

OT Cross might be the best pure pass blocker in this draft, so if he gets outside the top 10 it would slightly surprise me. I don't think he's falling into the mid 20s.

But yes, if OT Cross, the Center from Iowa of the OT/OG from NC State falls to the Packers, you absolutely have to consider them.

But when everyone is healthy it's
Bakhtiari
Jenkins
Myers
Runyan
Turner

I feel like it'd be hard to break into that lineup even as a top pick, though Jenkins is injured, and Jenkins and Turner have contracts up soon, so it is possible.

Why, WHY do people continue to have Packers drafting a WR in round one. Do they not pay attention? Do not they understand? And then all these mock drafts having Packers with WR in round one get folks thinking they failed by not doing so. Projecting the Packers to take a WR in round one speaks bogus expectations into existence. The Packers will NOT take a WR in round one unless it's a top five talent that dropped to them due to injury.

The Packers will most likely end up taking someone on the line (OL/DL) in round one. BOOK IT BABY!

Though I generally agree with you, Packers are probably not drafting a traditional WR in the 1st round. But Burks is not the traditional WR, he's more of a WR/TE hybrid that creates mismatches weather you treat him as a WR or TE and LaFleur could seriously use a hybrid in this system.

But I absolutely do pay attention, and if you pay attention to Gute, he has (so far), always followed a pattern of positional value in the first round.

Traditionally the most valuable tier 1 positions in the NFL are QB, CB, Edge Rusher and OT. Notice how all Gute first selections so far have all been at those positions?

More modern NFL has added a tier 1B which adds Safety and TE as a tier right below that, and all of Gute's 1st round picks have come from these. And my selection of Burks is really as a hybrid WR/TE more than straight WR. Also in the wide zone system, they have often drafted a LG in the top 2 rounds as well, like the Packers did with Jenkins, so that might be up there too.

Another pattern Gute has, he has selected great athletes in the first, more physical guys in the 2nd and more scheme guys in the third.

Cross is #23 on the Walter board. Prob not there at 28. Perhaps they will package a deal and move up if they want him bad enough.

When healthy is the key. Whoever they would pick up in the draft will not be the starter in 2022. Turner is gone after the season is over. Great way to learn. Taking a year to study Bak. And as you pointed out When is Jenkins coming back. Some of the studs in the draft will be better than Nijman, Hansen or Newman. But I am not walking away from Newman. Pretty weak this year but that's what happens to rookies. (Myers too.) In reality GB is not going to invest a Day 1 pick on the OL. Not unless they don't think Bak or Jenkins will come back all the way.
