I think that he knows he will be a free agent next year. I am hoping this works out well for us as no doubt he is going to want to put out some good tape as back surgery is not likely to generate much takers.

This is a good thing. Every player gets beat up as the season wears on. Z will be fresh and can put pressure on the offense.

Also if best healthy, which I don't know if he is or not, he could be a locked to be back.

Packers will need to either trade, release or extension many contracts to create cap room, so I think Rodgers, Amos, Turner, Z. Smith, P. Smith and others will get extension and go for it again next year.

Um, do the Packers officially practice during the bye week?

Like, with all the new practice rules in the CBA, and I'm pretty sure players get the week off during the in season bye week.

So what about a playoff bye week? Do they practice, or get the week off?

It would be good to get Z back for his pass rush. I'd imagine he'd be relegated to passing downs since he's probably not in shape to last a whole game at his normal snap count.

Yes they do practice. And no this isnt some good news hes coming back. Having a damn near season ending back injury and being out so long means he will be rusty and slower than before. Anyone expecting him to return to form prior to injury is going to be disappointed.

I don't think they practice. Probably sit in their group meetings and discuss what they want to do in general. They can't plan for a specific team.
