But it doesn't change the fact that Aaron is attempting to PR spin something that makes him look very bad. For someone who seemed to go on a whirl-wind diatribe on his view of personal liberty and freedom, it is at least curious that he never really spoke to, or tried to defend himself against, the legal ramifications from the NFL that are likely forthcoming for him and possibly the Packers.

Also, I think the complete silence we've heard from Murphy and Gute is deafening. They've basically left the coach to manage the fallout from this all while staying silent and behind the scenes. I'm pretty astonished that someone like Mark Murphy who interjected himself at the top of the hierarchy of team operations a couple of years ago, has not wanted to take the heat off the coach and let Matt LaFleur focus on game prep.

All of which goes to my thinking that this circus may indeed further entrench Murphy and Gute to move on from Aaron Rodgers and turn to Jordan Love.

And, for the record, Aaron's explanation is mostly making him look even more foolish / worse. Not sure he's able to PR spin his way out of his public standing having fallen so steeply.

Now the President of the Pro Football Writers of America group (Lindsay Jones) just tweeted in response to Rodgers saying today that an NFL doctor told him if he was vaccinated he couldn't catch or spread COVID, a league source noted Rodgers never spoke with a league MD or one of the jointly appointed infectious disease experts, though it was offered.

This is perhaps the most baffling part of Aaron Rodgers' PR strategy - the NFL has an army of "insiders" that will be able to refute Rodgers' version of the events. He ends up looking even more foolish, and an even bigger liar.

He literally cannot win with the PR spin. He tried, and I'm not sure how else he could've managed a PR spin other than going on Pat McAfee's show, but he is literally unequipped to be able to take on the NFL PR machine.

I wish he had not said 'immunized'. It was deceiving, he just should have said, "its none of your business". That notwithstanding, IF the Packers knew, and IF he in fact largely followed the non-vaxxed protocols, I don't know that there will be legal or league rammification.

Yes they are hiding, which shows lack of leadership.

I know some of Rodgers "medical staff", it's a bunch of alt-medicine advocates where the nurses were fired from actual medical offices because they refused to be vaccinated themselves. He literally wears some concussion helmet (their term) that does little more than a tinfoil hat would. Not surprised at all they recommended he not take the vaccine.

They're basically Dr Mercola wannabes.

So I doubt the NFL does much if anything in this case, other than perhaps to clarify the rules for talking to the media and strongly suggests Rodgers et al knock it off (ie: wear a mask or do interviews via zoom like Lazard has been doing). Maybe a small fine.

To be fair, Aaron mentioned he is not an anti-vaxxer on Pat McAfee's show today.

Only throwing that out there because Aaron doesn't consider himself as one. If you paid close attention to his words, though, it's hard not to come away thinking he has some personal anti-vax leanings -- kept talking about his "medical team" comprised of "medical individuals" and "medical professionals". In fact, the only time Aaron referenced "doctor" is when referring to the NFL's main doctor in connection with NFL's determination of COVID vaccination status.

Aaron has to protect himself from being called a liar. But it's interesting that his speech today on Pat McAfee's show that this is all about public perception, and has nothing to do with mitigating possible fines and or punishment imposable on him from the NFL. In other words, this is all damage control from a PR perspective; hopefully it works to sooth some NFL owner enough so that they trade a boatload of picks this off-season when the Packers move on from him.

I got the impression he's someone who has the financial means to research things by consulting doctors and paying for a team of doctors to help answer his questions and concerns. He comes off like someone who cares about his body and doesn't think there is a blanket cure-all for everyone. And since he has the financial means, he is using those resources. But I also was listening to understand, not listening to vilify like some I've read on the Tweeter.

dfosterf (27-Aug) : Have to admit the PO'd Cowboy fan videos would be fun to watch. Problem with draft picks is half their fanbase barely knows what that is
beast (27-Aug) : I think Cowboys fans are ready to get their pitch forks and burning sticks if Jerry were to trade Micah
dfosterf (27-Aug) : If Jerry traded Micah to GB, here in northern Va. they would have to quick build yet another data center to handle the internet hate traffic
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : its signing and trades that you don't hear about, other then announced
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : If you hear rumors about Packers sign or trade, won't happen. Not how they work
dfosterf (27-Aug) : 19 players in a contract year. Jones called loss to us worst loss in Cowboy history. Forget Parsons trade. Not happenin' Cap'n
packerfanoutwest (27-Aug) : The Packers, meanwhile, are the youngest team in the league for the third consecutive year.
dfosterf (27-Aug) : That it was darkest before the dawn in Bengals and Commanders before they got deals done
Zero2Cool (27-Aug) : what is Schefter saying?
dfosterf (27-Aug) : He was getting Dorito infusion therapy
dfosterf (27-Aug) : He's outta shape. Why, just the other day I saw him splayed out on the trainers table
