In another thread someone compared Julius Peppers to Reggie White, which there isn't any, there's nobody in the game to compare to Reggie. It may also be some time before we see another like him.

Anyway, what I'm curious about is - what kind of money do you think Reggie would command today?

IF there was another REGGIE White, NOT SOME PLAYER WITH HIS NAME but the real Reggie White, I see him being a franchise player.

NOBODY compares with a Reggie White. Sadly, in about 50 years, another player will come along that will put up Reggie like numbers and will play for the right team and EVERY body will call him the best of all time... Then Sadly, Reggies exploitgs will be remembered by only the diehard eagles and Packers fans... Sort of like Don Hutson.

I think Reggie would would be up there with Haynesworth. Reggie was way better, more concistent and less injury prone, but still. I think he'd get a 100 million dollar contract or something around that.

I don't know if White was all about the money though. He said he'd go where God would lead him in FA. Still, him going to the place where he got the most money wasn't all on God's shoulders though, I asume. Oh ye, and the Mike Holmgren phone call. That was pretty funny aswell.

I agree. Remember who Doug Atkins is? Or if this wasn't such a 'veteran' board, I don't even think anyone would know Deacon Jones, Kevin Greene or Bruce Smith.

EDIT : Just noticed how hypocritical this sounds coming from me, but still, you get the point. šŸ˜›

You forgot Gino Marchetti who was the closest and maybe even better than Reggie considering the era.

Reggie is better then Albert..

There would have been no worries on if Reggie would take a play off, or slack once he got the big $

With that said, I think he would be near the Albert $$

Players of White's quality don't come around very often. He would get whatever he wants if he were playing today.
Of course you could say the same question about players from the past, like most of the 1960's Packers, or Johnny Unitas, guys like that. Most of them had to take summer jobs to make a living.
Today, the lowest paid players make more then an average worker makes working for MANY years.

It always amuses me that Aussie Rules stars play for a decent career, maybe make half a million per year if you're near the top of the league, transfer to the NFL and then bang, $2 mill to punt a ball 6 times a game.

Are we talking veteran NFL player Reggie White or just out of college Reggie White? By the time he transferred to Green Bay, if that were to happen now, he'd probably earn Haynesworth money. And it'd probably be worth it.
