TE Mercedes Lewis was asked about Aaron Rodgers. Listen to what this man says. You hear this, you read what I said. This doesn't make sense.

I'm guessing that he's not actually pissed (or at least not more so than his usual state of being, which seems to be in a constant state of "someone has wronged me" - something that has served him well in his career), and this is all just a bit of posturing to try and gain some leverage for a contract extension that makes it hard for the Packers to cut or trade him in the next 3 years. Rodgers is a smart guy so he likely understands that demanding a trade is the only way he has any leverage in this situation. We've heard from (dubious anonymous) sources that an extension was offered, but we don't know the length or terms of it so it's difficult to really form much of an opinion on how reasonable the offer was.

I could easily see the Packer's front office trying to convince Rodgers to take a lower value deal due the circumstances surrounding 2020/covid/ reduced cap space. They would be borderline incompetent if they weren't taking this position.

I guess what I'm saying is this is likely a game of chicken from both sides. We'll see who flinches first.

It's disappointing that it has come to this, but I wasn't going to confuse Aaron Rodgers for Tom Brady when it comes to maximizing his contracts for personal gain. In the same breath, I'm not surprised and wouldn't blame the Packer's front office for trying to get a team friendly deal, and doing whatever they can to keep their options open with an aging QB that will undoubtedly have a very high cap number as long as he is part of the team.

There's a lot of hand wringing and manufactured drama going on here - it reminds me of the Russell Wilson trade story (or non-story as it has been so far) - so it's hard to take the situation very seriously at this point.

I don't think this makes him look good in the public eye and we all know he really wants that Jeopardy! gig.

I just don't know. The more I facts I consume, the less the tone of the Schefter report makes sense to me.

This sums things up decently.

He would not have a stronger bargain position for a trade than yesterday afternoon. So why not shoot off a flare and see what happens? In the long run it will all blow over and the two sides will play nice and work out a deal. Rodgers will have a 5-6 year deal paying him obscene amounts of money. Love will be left twisting in the wind wondering when he will see the field.

Aaron is not a bitter psycho because the Packers drafted Jordan Love. The Packers drafted Love, because Aaron is a bitter psycho.

I really am believing this whole thing is about Rodgers wanting some guaranteed years beyond 2021. It feels like Rodgers wants the Packers to show him some love (not that Love) by committing to him via contract beyond 2021. My assumption is the Packers and Rodgers agree to a contract extension/restructure of some kind that keeps Rodgers playing in Green Bay for 2021 and 2022 -- maybe even 2023. It just seems like for sure 2021 and 2022 he's our QB. After the 2022 season he'll be 38 and who knows what physical shape he'll be in.

If he doesn't want to play for the Packers, I am not sure it's Super Bowl's he wants then.

Bottom line -- this all just doesn't add up.

The team wants someone who can get it done, not someone who's out there worrying about his legacy on third and long.

Now Aaron's holding a grudge, just like he does over that time he slid on draft day. But this time it's only motivating him to be a bitter psycho, not play better.

Remember last year, Matt's first year as coach? Maybe Matt had enough of Aaron pretending his helmet radio didn't work, playing smart ass games with the coach.

Aaron wants to be The Man, start acting like one. In championship games and off the field.
