That's too much like soccer to work in the US of A. 🤣

Then the FG thing, I could live it, but why?

If you're going to go that route, then have a one on one where best WR/TE vs DB/LB matchup where the QB has to get the ball out of their hands within ___ amount of seconds... and back and forth until some one team is successful and the other team fails, to pick up 10 yards. Maybe add if you must use different players and can't repeatedly be the same ones. Like a shootout American šŸˆ football style.

I still think they should simplify the overtime rules to one of the following.

Sudden Death, first to score wins.

First team to score 4 points in overtime, wins.

No overtime outside of the playoffs. (Don't love it, but it's the most fair and reduces overtime injuries, especially as we add even more games)

If tied, last team to score wins, as they have the momentum. (I don't like this one as much) Again, reduces overtime injuries.

If tied the first team to get to that score wins as this will lead to trailing team to go for the win instead of a tie score, because a tie would still equal a loss. Again, reduces overtime injuries.

As I said 8 months ago,..the college system is simply better, fairer, and more exciting. But Goodell and others in the NFL has too much pride to adopt it.

However, Beast, I really like your point about limiting OT to post season...these guys are going to break down.

How about this?
Your FG kicker tries a FG from 40 yards. Then the opponent tries it. Move back 5 yards each time. The first one that misses loses the game for his team.
Easy peasy.

I feel like the college system is better, because you can still do the FG thing, but only after you fail to get the ball into the end zone.

But maybe a combo of the two?

Like college rules... but if you go for the FG it has to be a 40 yarder and pick up FG for each additional FG (but that's only after your team fails to get the ball I'm the end zone)

And as few overtime’s there are, it would make you be very careful when picking your FG kicker. After all, if you have a bad one, he could just as likely cost you games missing FGs during the games as in overtime.
Crosby didn’t miss a FG all season. He saved games for us. Just shows you how important that ā€œpart timeā€ guy is!
