GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he sees double standards in the safety protocols the NFL has instituted as it tries to complete a season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"You can dap up a guy after a game, but you can't eat at the same lunch table as a teammate,'' Rodgers said Tuesday on SiriusXM's "The Pat McAfee Show."

"You can go down to practice and hit each other and be in close contact, but you have to have Plexiglass between you and the guy next to you in the locker room. I just think some of those things, to me, really don't add up."

Rodgers added, "some of it is definitely for the optics of it, some of it probably based on science, but it's definitely changed the season, for sure.''

Yeah, from the sounds of the discussions, it was the players union that wanted the stricter Covid-19 rules than the NFL.

So while it's NFL policy, I'm thinking it's policy based on the NFLPA (Player's Union) push and agreement with the NFL, and that it might be based on uncertain or unknown factors.

Such as how often they were going to test... as the NFL agreed to test 6 days a week for __ amount of weeks, then it sounded as if they were possibly planning to reduce that number to once week. But in reality, they actually up it to 7 times a week.

So while in the current realities of testing 7 days of week, these extra protocols are deemed unnecessary and over the top....

In what was expected when the policy was implemented, of testing less often to save money on costs on testing, these extra protocols MIGHT of been helpful.

Yes there is the double standard either way, but they didn't feel like they could take the touching and interacting out of football and still sell it as football. So they took as much touching and interacting out where they could elsewhere.

At least that's my theory... based on what what was expected at the time, I could understand the extra stuff coming into play, but since the opposite of what was expected happened, they MIGHT be unneeded.

Another uncertain or unknown factor, was how much and at what ease would the virus spread amount teams and how seriously would teams, employees and players take the virus.

I guess what I don’t understand about the NFL covid19 policy is why are the coaches required to wear masks on the sidelines while the players go mask free.?

Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Now that's a thought, maybe they're looking at the college ranks? Maybe not head coaches but DC/assistant DCs with league experience?
beast (30-Jan) : College Coaches wouldn't want that publicly, as it would hurt recruiting and they might not get the job.
beast (30-Jan) : I thought they were supposed to publicly announce them, at least the NFL ones. Hafley was from college, so I believe different rules.
Mucky Tundra (30-Jan) : Who knows who they're interviewing? I mean, nobody knew about Hafley and then out of nowhere he was hired
beast (30-Jan) : I wonder what's taking so long with hiring a DL coach, 2 of the 3 known to interview have already been hired elsewhere.

buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : I forgot, they corrected the call a week later. Lol btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY dhazer!
buckeyepackfan (26-Jan) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.

packerfanoutwest (26-Jan) : well, he was
TheKanataThrilla (26-Jan) : Eagles down by contact on the fumble....fuck you NFL
