Linsley left Sunday’s win over the Lions in the fourth quarter, but will reportedly be good to go for Week 3. The Green Bay Packers  left their Week 2 game against the Detroit Lions  considerably more banged up than they entered it, but they’re getting some good news on at least one of those injuries. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero , center Corey Linsley  is dealing with an injury to the thumb on his snapping hand, but should be good to go for the Packers ’ Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints .
Linsley  left the win over the Lions in the fourth quarter, leaving the Packers to shuffle their line late in the game for the second consecutive week. In Linsley’s absence, Lucas Patrick  shifted from right guard to center and rookie Jon Runyan stepped in at right guard.
Though there’s certainly little he could have done to avoid a sprained thumb, that Linsley is hurt at all is noteworthy. He’s been an iron man on the interior of the Packers line for most of his career. He didn’t miss a single snap for the Packers in 2017 or 2018, and only came off the field in 2019 for a concussion and some back issues.
In both situations, Patrick  filled in at center and Linsley was back in action for the next game. Should Linsley miss this week’s game, the Packers have a plethora of options to replace him. Patrick is the obvious choice, but Elgton Jenkins  played extensively at center in college and would also be an option. 2020 sixth-round pick Jake Hanson , who started 49 games at center for Oregon, is currently on the practice squad.
It’s also worth noting that the Packers brought former Seahawks center Justin Britt in for a workout  prior to Week 1. He’d presumably only be an option if the Packers have a long-term issue with Linsley, but Britt ’s connection to Green Bay shouldn’t be forgotten.
