Packers-Vikings Friday Injury Report: Turner Doubtful
Bill Huber

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Billy Turner, who is listed as the starting right tackle for the Green Bay Packers, is doubtful for Sunday’s season-opening game at the Minnesota Vikings, coach Matt LaFleur said after Friday’s practice.

Turner practiced a bit on Thursday but did not work on Friday due to a knee injury.

LaFleur’s primary options to start would be veteran right tackle Rick Wagner or either of his starting guards, Elgton Jenkins or Lane Taylor.

Wagner, with 87 starts under his belt, was signed one day before the Packers lost standout starter Bryan Bulaga to the Chargers in free agency. An injury early in camp seemingly knocked him out of the starting conversation. However, Wagner is off the injury report.

“There were certainly some challenges there,” LaFleur said on Friday of Wagner’s injury, which kept him off the field for a week. “Anytime you’re not out on the grass and not getting those meaningful reps, it does set you back. But Rick’s a pro. We’ve got a lot of confidence in him. He’s started a lot of games in this league and he’s done it at a high level. So, it’s more or less one of those things that we’re again trying to find the best five to go out there and compete against a very good Minnesota Vikings defense.”

Turner started all 16 games last season and played 98.1 percent of the snaps, the highest rate for any player on offense or defense.

Also doubtful is defensive tackle Montravius Adams. Safety Raven Greene was limited participation all week and is questionable.

Friday's Injury Report
PACKERS

Out: OLB Randy Ramsey (groin).

Doubtful: T/G Billy Turner (knee), DT Montravius Adams (toe).

Questionable: S Raven Greene (groin).

VIKINGS

None.

It is really hard for me to imagine that Turner is a better player than Wagner. If he is the RT position is going to be a problem all year long.
Ramsey being out is no big deal. Same for M Adams if he misses the game.
It will be a problem if Greene can't play. They are already weak at MLB.

There is talk about moving Jenkins over to play RT, but if Wagner can't go would they consider Nijman? I am getting really excited about the reports on this kid. I know that they have been having him be the LT back-up, but if we can get him in at RT and hopefully let Wagner heal wouldn't that be the better option?

Alex Light has been the backup LT in most of camp. Until two weeks ago, Nijman has been injured since last season... and while he has unlimited potential, he was so freaking bad in his technic that he went undrafted when teams need OTs and usually take risk on OTs. I don't think LaFleur would of publicly suggest Jenkins if Nijman was clearly the best option.

Nijman might actually be able to develop, but to do it this quickly while injured for the entire off-season would be shocking... not impossible, but I'm thinking Jenkins would be a better option.

It appears that the starting 5 is Bak, Jenkins, Linsley, Taylor and Turner.
If Turner can't go then it will be Wagner. Under normal circumstances I would assume Nijman and Runyan are inactive. Wagner and Patrick are active. Without Turner they will probably have Nijman active. If Wagner goes down during the game my guess is Jenkins might slide over to OT and put Patrick in as LR. It's just a guess.

And I hope we never find out.

Where in game injury, might be more likely to keep the parts where they are, and just add one new RT Nijman. Changing one part instead of muliple parts.

Also, new rules allow for a 48th gameday active if you have a 8th OL active, or only 47 if you don't have 8 OL (so I'm so waiting for some team to have a TE or FB labeled as an OL and then mainly use him as the 6th OL or TE spot, like we are planning to use Lewis). Also waiting for the day they just say screw it and all 53 are active.

But anyways, we got 9 OL on the 53, so if 8 are active that probably means Runyan is inactive one while everyone is healthy.

I don't know why they don't just move Jenkins over there. He could start there for 10 years. Meanwhile we have a ton of Gs.

Zero2Cool (2h) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (6h) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (6h) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (7h) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (7h) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (7h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (7h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (7h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (7h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (7h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (7h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (7h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (8h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (8h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (10h) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (10h) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (10h) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
wpr (9-Apr) : yay
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Mark Murphy says Steelers likely to protect Packers game. Meaning, no Ireland
Zero2Cool (8-Apr) : Struggling to figure out what text editor options are needed and which are 'nice to have'
Mucky Tundra (8-Apr) : *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : WR who said he'd break Xavier Worthy 40 time...and ran slower than you
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Who?
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Texas’ WR Isaiah Bond is scheduled to visit the Bills, Browns, Chiefs, Falcons, Packers and Titans starting next week.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : Spotting ball isn't changing, only measuring distance is, Which wasn't the issue.
Zero2Cool (2-Apr) : The spotting of the ball IS the issue. Not the chain gang.
Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
