After missing most of the 2019 season with a torn biceps, Packers guard Lane Taylor has agreed to a pay cut in 2020. Taylor will get a $100,000 signing bonus and total pay of $1.5 million, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media. Taylor had been due a base salary of $3.8 million this season, [more]

This is a bit of a surprise. I have heard it said he would be traded or released because of the salary hit. I never heard anyone suggest he would take a pay cut. Good for him Lane is a veteran backup and he knows it. I'm glad he will remain on the team but in doing so he puts a crimp in the plans for the 3 linemen taken in the 6th round.

This seems like a real win/win situation. The Packers gets to save cash on a guy they would likely have to cut, but also kept a veteran lineman who has shown himself to be pretty good when healthy and could be a great back-up. Lane gets to stay on a team who he is familiar and is not cut where he becomes a FA coming off an injury which limits his chances of catching on with another team. I have to admit that I really like this move by Gute.

As far as the OL draft picks are concerned. I think 1 goes on IR (Stepaniak), 1 goes on the PS (Hanson) and 1 makes the team (Runyan).

This is a very good move, except for maybe our depth at OT.

This is how I currently see the 53 man roster based on my prediction, which did error on the side of draft picks (just like teams do to a degree).

PUP: OG Madison, OG Stepaniak

OT (3): Bakhtiari, Wagner (and the OGs)
OG (3): Jenkins, Turner, Taylor, Runyan
OC (3): Linsley, Patrick, Hanson

If someone is released from this list, I think it's a Center, though I wouldn't be shocked if they released Patrick before the draft pick, more ready now, vs higher upside potential, Gute has shown he likes future potential

Mucky Tundra (2-Apr) : Will there be a tracker on the ball or something?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : Too bad camera's can't spot the ball as well.
Mucky Tundra (1-Apr) : So will the chain gang be gone completely or will they still be around as a backup or whatever?
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : The method for measuring first downs in the NFL will switch from chain gangs to camera-based technology in 2025, the league announced.
Martha Careful (1-Apr) : A big step in the right direction. Just put in the college system is very very good.
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : NFL has passed a rule that allows both teams to possess the ball in OT during the regular season
Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : Touchbacks on kickoffs will now bring the ball to the 35-yard line.
