If the third-down conversion that had allowed the Packers to ice the clock and win the divisional round game against the Seahawks hadn't been so close and controversial, the focal point of the final minutes of the game would have been the decision of the Seahawks to punt the ball to the Packers with 2:32 [more]

I was more than fine with them punting in that situation. But I also get why they did it - do you put the entire game on a 4th and 11 play, or on your defense getting a stop before they give up a couple first downs? That's a lot to put your faith in.

I still would have gone for it myself though if I were coaching - Miss the 4th and 11 from what, your own 36? - and your defense still has a chance to force a fieldgoal attempt with a stop. Even if they make it, it's still a 1 score game (even though you need to get the two) and your offense will have a chance to finish the game out.

Way more questionable to me was the way the first half ended with what, 10 seconds left on the clock and the Seahawks knocking on field goal territory. Far, far more likely to get those 3 points than convert the hail mary and then you go into halftime down 2 scores instead of 3, momentum swinging your way with the ball in your hands to start the 2nd half.

Typical muckraker second guesser. Punting was the right call with the way their defense had been playing

I would of punted as well, he has nothing to defend, it was the right call.

If you don't get it that 4th and long, your game is over with no chance at all.

3 timeouts + 2 minutes warning is more then enough time to potentially get the ball back.

If McCarthy was still coach, the Packers never would’ve passed on 3rd down. They would have run the ball, not got the first down, and the Seahawks would have got the ball and won the game.

As to the decision to punt - I think it was the right call. I would think you are more likely to get a stop on defense than convert a 4th and long. The clock being the deciding factor - if it were under 2 minutes, the discussion becomes very different.
