I can see the suggestion that running the time clock down to one may allow Aaron to diagnose the D, but it also allows to DL to time the snap as either it is perfect jump for the DL or it is a time count violation on the Packers.

Thing is, when Urlacher was still in the league, it was producing 1-2 offsides per game and maybe a false start and timeout burned every 1.5 games, instead of ~4 offsides a year and a false start or timeout burned every game. It used to work fantastically for the Packers, but for whatever reason it hasn't seemed to even break even as far as offsides vs false starts (not to mention burned TOs if they're to the line a bit late thinking they'll take it down to 1) go for several years now.

Is Rodgers really using seconds 2 to 1 to diagnose the defense, and if he can catch the defense offguard and buy his linemen like 50ms of a jump on the d linemen, does that offset that lost second of diagnosis?

I would rather keep that defense on their toes like what happens in hurry up offense.

How many false starts are occurring as a result of this practice that otherwise wouldn't be the case if we weren't running the clock down to the wire? How many offsides are we generating as a result of this practice and how are we utilizing the free play? How many timeouts are we burning as a result of this practice.

What sorts of things is Rodgers looking at in the last second before snapping and how useful is that compared to everything else?

More attempting to add to the conversation by openly pondering the pros and cons than making a definitive statement. To my casual eye, yeah I feel like it might not be benefitial anymore as we've not seen anywhere close to the number of offsides in the last few years versus the like 6 years prior to that and as a result, the benefits are decreasing.

Just gently sharing my opinion and playing a bit of devil's advocate here.
