When Cutler heard the team was trying to trade him he didn't want to play for the Broncos anymore. He was hurt that the team/coaches didn't back him. Obviously he and his agent put up quite a stink and the Broncos put an end to it quickly.

On one hand I can understand. However, most players realize it is a business and realize they can be traded anytime. Virtually no player is untouchable. If his ego is that far out and he is that thin skinned it might not bode well for the Bears. It sure doesn't promote a tough "monsters of the midway" approach.

I tend to favor how the Broncos handled it over how the player and agent handled it.

Ya I agree but when Jerry Jones came out and said ....

he "wouldn't trade Tony (Romo) for anybody."
Jones laughed off rumors that Romo isn't passionate about football and that he'd deal him for Jay Cutler. Jerry also said Romo and new No. 1 WR Roy Williams started training together three weeks before voluntary work began.
I think Cutler felt like if he should of been treated the same way like if he shouldn't of been traded for anybody.

see below ..

I think Cutler is a big baby.
It's a BUSINESS! So the team tried to go after someone else. If Cutler thouht he was all that, he should have said "Bring him in, and i'll prove i'm better then him".
That would have cemented his job.
But now he gets to play with the lowly Bears.....lucky Cutler!!!

You know what is really funny? Last year during the circus i recall alot of posters saying that we can't take back Brett and give him the starting job because it will hurt us signing Rodgers for the long term. Really seems like alot of you people made him sound like he would be crying and want out, but now hes the next best thing since sliced bread. So please tell me what would have been the difference?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

You've got to be joking. You're taking a seldom perception and adding your own twist to it and then wanting us to explain to you the difference?

Cutler, 25. Favre, was what, 38? and he RETIRED!

Ya ever think about that one?

Going into the off season Rodgers said he felt strongly that Brett was coming back and he'd be riding pine for at least one more year. He was fine with that. Then Brett retired, the Packers told him that he was THE GUY.

What kind of stability is there if your team tells you that you're the guy and then says no? Yes, it would have been a pisser, but it is a business and considering how well Aaron handled it during the off season I am bewildered that even you would question it.

edit, Rodgers and Brett said they'd be fine with an open competition.

I don't think Brett was fine with a qb competition.

Greta: "What about competing for starting quarterback?"

Favre: "Why?"

I mean, he didn't say no, but he said "Why" as if to say, "why should I have to compete for my job?"

There's a post here that has his quotes on this. He said that to Greta and then he told I believe either King or Mortensen that he would be fine with it. It was one of the things I cited stating he flip flopped.

More Previously:

VAN SUSTEREN: What about competing for starting quarterback?
FAVRE: Why?
VAN SUSTEREN: I'm just asking. I'm just asking that...
FAVRE: That's what I would ask them, Why? Well, Brett, you retired, you know what I mean?

Previously:

Brett told Chris Mortensen "Let me compete, you'll know I'll win this job"

8/5/08:

"Mike told me, hey, we're a better team with you on it but wanted to know if I have a problem with an open competition, I don't have a problem with competing -- you know that, but Aaron should be the starter right now because he's been out here all this time." ... "I'll practice my butt off, if it comes to that, and I think we all know what the end result will be, but this probably isn't going to work."
