So much for him being the answer at ILB. Hopefully Ty Summers learns how to wrap up.

packer wire

Third-year defensive back Josh Jones tweeted that the Green Bay Packers informed him he will be released on Sunday, ending a drama-filled offseason between the player and team.

too bad I hate to see high draft picks not make it through their rookie contract but they have to perform.

I wonder who they'll play at the hybrid S/LB spot now. It looks like Raven Greene is the #3 safety but isn't he more of a FS type? I guess they can play him more like a traditional S/slot CB type. Or maybe they play Amos at LB/S with the big nickel package?

I don't know much about the other safeties on the roster, does one of them fit the S/LB position?

Really don't like the precedent of giving a whining player what they want, but unfortunately ones trade value becomes pretty much nil when they demand a trade and haven't done jack shit on the field. I suppose we could have waited until the end to cut him as a bit of payback, but let's move forward and hopefully find a guy that wants to be here.

Of course I wish they could have gotten something for them, but I like the policy of getting rid of malcontents.....its Lombardi like

But with all due respect, I believe he played his senior year of college football at LB (in a 4-3 OLB role), he loves to hit, he loves to be over aggressive (and not safe), and he hates to play things smartly when he can take a chance at an even bigger play.

To do that you better be extremely athletic for your position, and he's more athletic when comparing to LB than Safeties and he doesn't play safe... so everything has been screaming LB, not Safety.

I can see why nobody made a play for him. He showed his true colors while here.
I wouldn’t be in a hurry to sign a guy who whined his way out of a job.
Why should he change? His “big baby” act got him what he wanted.
I hope he crashes and burns.

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
