I would love to see Vonnie Holiday back in Packer green 'n' gold and I'm not against signing Carter either. I just know that everyday these guys hang around unsigned, their price goes down, and a financially savvy GM like Ted Thompson is no doubt cognizant of this as well. It's possible, though by no means certain (nor even necessarily probable, in my opinion) that teams will be pounding down the doors to talk to these guys after the draft, but my guess is they will be more preoccupied in negotiations with their draftees. Any fears that these players would somehow resent teams for waiting so long to sign them seem unfounded to me (why look the gift horse in the mouth?).
Besides, we only see the work our GMs do that gets finalized. We never see the behind-the-scenes offers that never come to fruition. For all we know, Thompson has contacted both Holiday and Carter and has been rebuffed. Maybe these players, too, are banking on a bidding war after the draft.
Patience, my friends. Patience.
