On Friday, Ben Goessling of the Star-Tribune reported that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has signed a four-year, $64 million extension that could be worth up to $73 million. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, $35 million is guaranteed.
That could work out at over $18 million a year, making Thielen one of the highest paid receivers in the NFL. And well deserved. Thielen is an excellent player and has posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with a combined 2,649 yards and 13 touchdowns over the past two years.
Rewind a little over a year, back to December 2017. Davante Adams was a few months away from hitting free agency, but the Green Bay Packers were able to agree a deal, which was for four years and worth $58 million. Adams’ deal works out at less than $15 million a year.
