Then the same logic goes for Chicago. They will be healthier and grow from within correct?

I'm glad you brought that up. For younger teams, the waiting and experience is good. For an older team(Bears), it has the opposite effect. Older players get slower. And yes, it happens to all teams, even our Donald Driver might show the signs of aging some day(although with the way he's playing, not anytime soon).

The difference is, as you know, we're one of the youngest teams in the NFL and won't have to worry about that too much. I mean even Devin Hester is slowing down a bit(injuries didn't help) and he's their fastest and flashiest threat.

They have guys like Forte and Olsen who should improve as the years go on, but for every Forte, there's a couple Olin Kreutzes and Roberto Garzas.

so I was wrong about something, my thoughts dont matter. You've never been wrong I take it? Impressive. Once again, kudos to dd80forever.

I'm done with you, however I don't appreciate you calling posts "dumb" and I will let it go at that.

Secondly, the amount of impact that Cutler has on the Bears may be downplayed by many but there is no denying that his signing has improved a 9-7 football team.

I'm not saying they are lock for a SB or even the NFC North but they sure are sitting alot better than they were at the end of last season. Like it or not this team has taken very minor steps thus far this offseason in improving the team. Tell me in what position we have significantly upgraded from last years roster.

Easy. Dom Capers.

Bob Sanders not on the sideline should help us win 2 more games easy. A healthy team should help for about 2 more(thats 10 wins). Growing from within(you know, younger players getting experience from last year) should get us one more I'd say.

Addition by subtraction.

And yeah we got some offensive line and seconday depth in free agency so far.

You never know about health..... and yes they will grow from with in but at a much smaller scale because they have a lot less talented young guys. The Packers have a lot of talented young guys that can grow a lot unlike most of the teams in the NFC North.

Well I am in the boat that we will be 10-6 or better this coming season. I have a feeling dom is going to turn our D around and make some good plays this coming season.

I would really like some vetern experience ie carter on the team. But seems like Ted Thompson is not going to grab him. Or worse case scenario wait till after the draft and 'try' to grab him for cheap.

Well actually Chicago is pretty young as well.
Outside of Kruetz and now Pace and maybe Urlacher they are not that old.

Most of there skill positions are filled with young guys. We are really not that much younger than them.

It's great to be young but eventually the guys have to develop. We've been the youngest team in the league for 3 years.

My point is everyone is focusing in on the Bears, but top to bottom Green Bay and Minnesota are still better teams.

I strongly disagree. The Bears were 3 games better than us last year without Cutler. Saying the Pack is better is kind of stretching it here. All those holes you talk about were there last year and they were 9-7. Add Cutler to the team and they have to be the favorites in the NFC North.

I'm really looking for some logic behind your statement. The Packers have done nothing to improve, other than a new Def. Coordinator. If the Packers are going to improve so much from within I would assume it's safe to say so will the Bears. Now toss in Cutler to the equasion as well.

The point on making a move now wasn't to make one that wouldn't help the team just for the sake of making one, but rather speed up the process of signing someone assuming Ted was going to do so.

There are players out there that will improve this team. Ted's needs to quit fiddling around and make someone a priority sign. Or we can just sit still and watch the other teams pass us even further by.

2009 is a new year with new players and new everything. Some players will disappoint and some will surprise. I don't think the difference between GB, Chicago, and Minnesota is a lot. It's basically a toss up. Minnesota is probably the best built team, but they have the worse QB situation arguably in the league next to the Jets right now. GB has a lot of good young talent and is a year removed from 13 wins, but they have a new defensive scheme. Chicago has a new QB, but they have probably more holes than the other two teams.

None of these teams are gold. All of them are more bronze. Even Matt Forte who is being hyped up averaged the same 3.9 yards per carry that Ryan Grant did last year. Cutler and Rodgers are very close. Both offensive lines are average at best. I'll take the Packers receivers anyday. Defensively they were about the same last year.

The Packers were an injury riddled team facing the biggest distraction throughout the entire season last year with the Brett Favre situation. They still beat the Bears bad at Lambeau and played them toe to toe in Chicago. If Chicago was this high and mighty football team, they would've taken care of GB especially in conditions that suited them.

Add Jay Cutler and another year to an average defense and it's not much different. They overachieved last year and I don't' think they'll overachieve this year. I think they'll play to their level which is 8 or 9 wins. That might be enough to win the North. I suspect the three teams will beat up on each other.

By the logic I keep hearing you say though then I wonder.... How the heck did the 07 Packers elevate pass the Bears? GB added Frank Walker and a bunch of poor draft picks and won 13 games. Chicago was coming off of a Super Bowl appearance. That logic you're using and other people in defense of GB doesn't work. Another season brings new football.

With what the Bears gave up to get Cutler, it will be harder for them to "build from within".
Losing those 1st rounders will hurt them down the line.

Our D will be totally different then last year. Yes, alot of the same players, but alot of times changing the scheme can totally change the quality of defense. Thats what i think will happen. Our D will be alot better.

To run out and sign someone to "offset" that the Bears signed someone makes no sense.
As it is, Cutler STILL hasn't proven himself to be a winner. I know he's lost more games then he;s won.
And now he's gone to a team with little talent WR wise.

ya I find that quite interesting also cheesey; chicago just got cutler one of the premier QBs of the league and yet they have hardly any good WR to throw too.

Perhaps they will try to trade or draft some but now their draft picks are 'screwed' for this year. So Cutler is going to have to throw to TEs and not so good WRers.

Better for us thou and our secondary 😉
