It's probably talent per dollar, maybe Gunter is cheaper? Or maybe they have concerns over Wilkerson recovery?

Might just be insurance for if Wilkerson doesn't resign. I could imagine he's looking for the same deal as he got from us last year on a 1-year, $ 5 million contract. I could also imagine the Packers thinking his market value dropped to $ 3, being another year removed from his stellar play in 2015 and after suffering another serious injury.

That's all speculation, of course, but if that's the case, I doubt Wilkerson will be on our roster next year. The longer they drag this out, the closer we'll get to training camp. A team that doesn't manage to fill its hole at DE/DT during the draft and/or suffers an injury in training camp would probably give him $ 5 million.
