Boys,

This got me wondering:
https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/nfl-draft-2019-packers/2019/4/1/18290911/packers-2019-draft-visits-green-bay-to-host-washington-ot-kaleb-mcgary

If we drafted him, would his familiar face provide an inducement (comfort factor) for Cole Madison to give it a go?

I read the title and went... what the hell??

Update: To be clear, I'm often confused, so nothing really new here.

Washington's Kaleb McGary appears to be a high quality player, but not taking him in the 1st round (pick 30) as GB's second #1 pick could see him slip away to another team. Also GB would need time to train him to take over RT from Bulaga. In the mean time Spriggs is still the best backup OT for the Packers.

Now lets look at the Washington/Washington State discussion. Cole Madison attended Washington State. Kaleb McGary attended Washington. Had they both attended the same school together, I might say there was a chance that McGary could bring Madison to GB. However as it stands it is, IMO, like hoping that a player from Wisconsin could talk a player from Ohio State into wearing a Wisconsin Football Jersey. The chances are Slim and None, and Slim left town. Madison needs to resolve his issues, but even if he does his past non-action is going to always count against him. I'd love to see Madison join the Packers and go on to be the best at his position for many seasons, but I don't see signs of that happening.

They could look at Andre Dillard who was Madison's teammate. Dillard is rated as one of the best pass blocking OTs and is expected to be a RT in the NFL.

IMO 1st round and top of 2nd round is way too high for McGary... he has a chance to become King of the power game, but man did he struggle with speed rushes and if we're going to be heavy into zone run blocking, that might mean we need better movement skills and less power guy anyways.

McGary is interesting but he's clearly has alot of developing left....

Then again, Gute seems to be going for highest potential, which has led to a lot of developmental guys, so it's quite possible that he's interested, bit 1st round seems way too high... he's a day 2 (rounds 2 and 3) guy.

Beast, a look at the more prominent mock drafts show Kaleb McGary's stock has been rising. Waiting to try to get him with the #44 pick in the second round could be a mistake that GB could regret. As for his skills, many rookies need the next level training that college did not provide. The GB Caches should be able to teach this young man the skills he will need in the pros.

Additionally, McGary gets a positive on his side for staying healthy and not missing games in college. He's not carrying a lot of bad baggage with him.

1,000 pardons. I will endeavor to abbreviate less other than using OL, DL, and 12.

Don't count on being treated fairly (even when your right) by the people in power in this forum. Sometimes you just have to realise who your dealing with and not swing at pitches in the dirt.
Afterall you really don't accomplish much by besting fools.

As for Kaleb McGary, grabbing him with pick #30 in round 1 would be a victory for the Packers. Bulaga could go down at any time, Spriggs has the game experience to backup at either TE position. McGary would hopefully not be needed until at least his 2nd season. By that time the coaches should have McGary trained and ready to perform as a starter.

Zero2Cool (19-Nov) : The Jets fired Joe Douglas, per sources
packerfanoutwest (19-Nov) : Jets are a mess......
Zero2Cool (19-Nov) : Pretty sure Jets fired their scouting staff and just pluck former Packers.

Zero2Cool (17-Nov) : Bears get OL fixed amd we might have a problem
buckeyepackfan (17-Nov) : Pretty sure they already have scouting reports on guys who aren't even starting for their college team. The future is now for me.
buckeyepackfan (17-Nov) : I tend to let Gute and Co. Worry about the future.

Martha Careful (17-Nov) : The badgers really need to change the whole offensive scheme. No draws no screens plus the quarterback is marginal
Cheesey (17-Nov) : If the Badgers had a decent QB, they would have won. The guy can't hit a wide open receiver
Martha Careful (17-Nov) : chop block
Martha Careful (17-Nov) : there was a very questionable job Block call that upon viewing replay was very borderline
beast (17-Nov) : How so? (I didn't watch)
Zero2Cool (17-Nov) : Badgers got hosed vs Oregon
packerfanoutwest (16-Nov) : damn,he hasn't played since week 2
