The biggest thing I take away from these signings is that we now have veteran players who had much better years than the guys they are replacing and negates the need to ask rookies to jump in out of the gate. Not saying they don't need a great draft but to not have to expect them to jump in and have to play lights out day one is huge.
Quite honestly how did Pettine get this team to 18th with no outside pass rush and no consistent Safety play? That has to be the worst combination to have to deal with in today's NFL. Gute drafts a stud edge rusher along with the Smith's and Fackrell and that group goes from pathetic and thin to deep and at the least solid in a blink.
Pettine's got to be doing cart wheels about now.
