Word is he will be released. He put up 22 sacks 4 years ago. Hasn't hit double digits since. Been battling injuries. He's 30. If he gets cu before FA starts he is eligible to be signed right away. The packers have his former LB coach. Do you think we go after him? He's one of the few pash rushers to reach the market. Should we? For how much?

Yes, a competitive, but incentive laden contract (games played, team record.) We will know exactly what Mike Smith thinks of him by the level of the offer. He would immediately become our 1 or 2 guy.

This is kind of guy who I wish was available at safety, not a break the bank, reliable guy.

One question I have though, if he was so good, Dee Ford is so good, their monster D lineman is so good, and their dbackfield is so talented, why did their defense look like crap when it counted?

4 years is a lifetime in the NFL.

Nevertheless turn CM3's $10 mil 3 sacks, 12 QB hits with 43 tackles into a $5-6 mil, 8 sack, 15 QB hits, 40 tackle performance.

Trey Flowers will hit the market as well. 25 years old. 164 tackles and 21 sacks in the last 3 years. I'd guess he will be much more expensive than Houston though.

Weddle is looking long in the tooth....didn't record an interception for the second time in the last five years, and had a career-low three passes defended. Pro-Bowl designations don't really mean much to me. HHCD was a pro-Bowler and I never thought he was good.

Flowers, absolutely. 25 years old, versatile. Yes he would be more expensive than Houston...maybe both?

Also, what is the knock on Tre Boston? He would likely be a cheaper and better LT fit at FS
