Gronk had a down year as well. He's been talking about retirement for a year or two. His body looks done. Much slower than he was before.

Gronk also missed 4 games and played sparingly in others....still a got to guy...not so with Graham

Also Gronk blocks very well, always has. Graham does not, and never has.

Yes, the blocking is the huge difference. Gronkowski (from what I've heard) has been awesome blocking this season.

Z2C accurately stated:

True. But how many games did Graham have a bad back and ankle? Broken thumbs don't generally slow you down. I admire the effort of playing with the broken thumbs, but he is done...especially at that price.

I saw this somewhere else and I agree. The decision to release Jordy Nelson was the right decision. The decision to sign Jimmy Graham, was not the right decision.

Gronk is probably done. But he still demands attention from other teams, thus opening it up for other receivers.
That can be huge.

Do we have someone better than him with which to replace him?

Dude runs like Chmura. Chewie got it done. Jimmy doesn't have to run like Greg Jennings in LeFleur's offense. As for his blocking, he was managing to fall down in front of people halfway decently by end of season. The effort was there, the results were slightly below average.

Heck I might even bring Mercedes Lewis back. Doesn't LeFleur like those blocking TEs? Let them compete.

Recall, Graham was on pace for the all time team receptions record for TEs, before the thumb injury. He's not what he was, but he can still reach higher than most CBs.

Gronk can still take over a game if needed, just look at the playoffs in crunch time. Brady went right to the money in Gronk. Graham is washed up and for what its worth we could bring in Brandon Marshall and put him at TE lol, he probably would block better than Graham.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

The Patriots have 12 draft picks in the coming draft, maybe The Packers can get a 4th or 5th round pick for Graham since Gronk has announced his retirement after Sunday.

Just kidding, Patriots would never waste a pick.

Fraham is in Green Bay fir at least another year.
I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!
