I would say the NFC North would be more like

Minnesota 10-6
Chicago 9-7
Green Bay 8-8
Detroit 6-10

It's all hearsay right now though, but GB is going to probably improve. They have a reasonable schedule from the looks of it and they're also going to be much more healthy on defense. They were without several starters last season and injuries were as bad last year as 05. Capers is easily a better coach than Bob Sanders too.

The naysayers out there really should be asking whether or not 8 or 9 wins is acceptable. That's a good arguement. In fact it's one I'd side with on those who say it's not cutting it, but as far as the Packers go, they're a better team than last year. Anyone who watched them knows this. The question I wonder is how much better exactly are they.

Nice post Porky. I would agree with you. If you are happy with 8-8 I guess you would be happy with the team. 8-8 is NOT acceptable to me.

I do think we are incredibly average. 6-8 wins is about right. I feel 8 wins is going to be if we get the breaks that we didn't get last year. To me if we play to the best of the teams ability we are still a borderline playoff team.

I am sure we will be somewhere between 1st and 4th. Anything else would be a wild guess.

So is this all stemming from the Bears picking up Cutler?
I don't get it. Yes, Cutler is a great quarterback but he isn't going to take the Bears above and beyond at least in his first year there. What receivers are going to help Cutler?
Hester?
C'mon. I'm not asking people to be a homer and say go Pack all the way, but they will not finish 3rd this year and I will stand my ground on that statement.
I see so much negativity on this board sometimes and I don't know if it is sarcasm or not. I am not saying picking the Packers to go 3rd is negative, but because a team makes a move all of a sudden it over?
The draft hasn't even happened, its not even end of free agency, summer isn't even here!
Off season frustrates me so much...haha, sorry.

This.

Anyway, when really looking the rosters objectively... what do these other teams have what is so great that we don't? The pass rush and run-stopping ability of this defense is all based on wild guesses. No one knows how we're going to do, although we do have alot of 'ifs' along the D-line and the LBs.

The draft hasn't even been and while looking at the Vikings schedule on another side, I really can't say that they go much higher than 9-7, seeing that they still don't have a very good QB, their coach is an idiot and they have only one good receiver... who can only stretch the field, really.

Their defense is ok, but it's mostly about the D-line if you ask me and both of their big guys in the middle are getting up there in age. I'm still wondering wether Udeze will be back next year. The kid really deserves to.

Anyway, it's way to soon to make all these kinds of pessimistic posts. Especially since the only things that have changed are the Bears getting a tackle, who is about equal to his predeseccor while the other side is still wide open, and a QB, who, although is really good, does throw quite alot of ints when you look at his TDs aswell. I know that doesn't say alot, we used to have someone like that aswell, but it usually doesn't bode well.

Also, the Bears won't have a first round draft pick this year. Same goes for a third round pick. They might get a decent starter in round 2, but that'd still leave them with a relatively late round selection for a starter (thinking RT here).

If Cutler sucks, then the bears are so screwed its not even funny. Actually it would be really funny. I hope Cutler just sucks horribly.

I think this will be a fun division next year. Looking at our team I think our Offense can improve greatly if we get the running game to work next year (especially in short-yardage situations). Which is awesome considering we had the 5th ranked offense. Defensively it wouldn't take much to be better than last year and with an improved offense I think we could win 10+ games.

If I had to pick right now I would say

Bears 11-5
Vikings 10-6
Packers - 6-10
Lions - really bad

I agree with the order, but I think Vikings and Bears tie with 10 wins and Packers get 7 or 8. That's without seeing schedules and just flipping numbers out there.

Agreed.

Cutler will be playing with an OL that's even worse than ours. Cutler will be playing with mediocre WRs and a good TE. da Bear's D is on the decline. They lost 2 1st round draft picks.

I'm not worried about them. I still stand by what I said - the Vikings are the team to be worried about. They're a QB away from making a deep run in the Playoffs. da Bears on the other hand will still find ways to lose more than 8 games. They do that. They're still da Bears.

This isn't me being a homer either. It's me being logical, instead of getting all emo about the Cutler signing.

How many times did Dan Marino prove that a QB can only take a team so far?

Hearing Rome break it down about how Denver had the 2nd best offense in the NFL and Culter is going to one of the worst; is making me rethink things a bit.

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered

wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
