I've read from fans that the Packers better not draft a QB in 2019 draft. Better surround Aaron Rodgers with as much talent as possible because he's not getting any younger!!!!

2004 we finished 10 - 6 winning the division. Favre was 35 at the end of 2004 season.
2018 we finished 6 - 9 - 1 and whiffed on the playoffs. Rodgers was 35 at the end of 2018 season.

This would lead me to believe --relatively speaking-- we were in a better position to go for broke in 2005 than 2019.

Do we think Aaron is better at 35 than Brett was at 35?

If there's a QB for the future sitting there with that Saints pick, by all means, take him!!

I couldn't agree more. I root every year for the Packers to draft players that cab legitimately replace their current starters, because that means they're getting better. My dream scenario would be to see Aaron Rodgers playing for another team next season—not because I have anything against Aaron Rodgers but because I would love for Green Bay to be so lucky in the draft that such a thing were possible. I'd be just as delighted if they took a talent who had a realistic shot at stealing Rodgers' job in two or three years. Wouldn't it be nice not to have to resign ourselves to a lost season every time our starting quarterback goes down for any length of time?

I think Rodgers is, indeed, better than Favre at that age, but that isn't really the big point.

First of all, Rodgers hasn't been contemplating retirement every single off-season. According to an NBC article thant I can't even open via the waybackmachine anymore, Brett started that BS as early as 2003.

Secondly, the chance that something like that will ever happen again is miniscule. I doubt there's even two QBs in this class who would qualify as 1st rounders on talent alone, let alone two QBs who could be the 1st overall pick like back in 2005.

Lastly... I think there stil might be some hope that we could develop Kizer into a viable starter. It was obvious to everyone but the Browns that he wouldn't be able to start in his first season. He has all the attributes, but was way too raw. In 2004 we had Craig Nall as our only serious candidate to groom...

That said, if Drew Lock does fall to our pick, I wouldn't mind taking a shot. I don't think it's a very good year for QBs the way it's looking now, so I imagine he'll be pushed up the boards, rather than down, but we do have to start thinking about the future real soon.

Personally, I try not to hold that against him, but I would rather my QB be more of the "This was great, I want this feeling against next year!" rather than opining outloud if he should keep playing.

Rodgers worst years are better than favres better years. I'd say 3-4 of Favres years rival Rodgers average years. It was a different era and Brett Favre got rid of the fucking ball even if he'd want it back afterward.

Here are the 3 qb's with a day 1 rating.

Grier, Will rSr West Virginia QB
Haskins, Dwayne rSo Ohio State QB
Lock, Drew Sr Missouri QB

Haskins must have just decided to go pro.
He showed up on the list today.

Still very young but he is amazingly calm under all circumstances .
Heard him compared to a young Ben Roethlisberger.
Big strong kid who can already make all the throws.
Can run when needed, but prefers to stay in the pocket.

I know next to nothing about the other 2.

I think it's time to start looking.

Haskins wouldn't be a wasted pick at the bottom of the 1st round.

I was addicted to The Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around!

Haskins, Dwayne rSo Ohio State QB

Why? because he's the youngest of them three.

2005 Draft vs 2019 Draft -- What's the difference?

About 14 years! (someone had to say it!)

But I would say the big difference is Craig Nall (and Favre seem to almost actually retire one year) vs Kizer and Boyle... I don't know if Kizer or Boyle will develop, but I think they have more physical potential to possibility develop than Nall.

Also Rodgers (IMO) was clearly the best QB in that draft, fell to us at what, 24? So if the best QB falls to our draft pick in the last first, then yeah, maybe pull the trigger and see what happens.

But the need for other positions is the same....

That being said, I see more similar with the 2017 draft.... the Packers had Gute as GM, they seriously needed CBs and it was supposed to be a CB deep draft class.... in 2018 the Packers biggest need based on current contracts signed (or in this case being up) is the defensive front at edge rusher and DL and this draft class is said to be deep at DL and edge rusher, at least at the very top 45 picks or so.... so the draft class and Packers needs sorta worked together and I could see the Packers using two high draft picks on defensive front, just like they did last year with CB.

Zero2Cool (14h) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (15h) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
