Do you agree?

A year and a half ago, the Packers watched as longtime starting guard T.J. Lang walked away to a division rival, the Lions, taking more money from Detroit than Green Bay was willing to pay. At the time, the Packers were criticized for that move. That criticism was wrong. The Lions have placed Lang on [more]

Yeah because they paid full price and (so far) have only gotten him 60% of the games, and last year there were times he was playing, but clearly he wasn't 95% but fighting and on the field. He got overpaid for the Lions years (under paid other years), just like Cobb has been getting overpaid by the Packers.

Veteran contracts are a gamble... Packers won the Lang gamble.

Plus they got a 4th round comp pick out of it... which was used on WR J'Mon Moore (who's still developing, but has reminded people of Adams movement skill wise, thought a bust as far as catching the ball, so the jury is still out if that's a win or a push).

We have complained a lot about players not being retained. For the most part, it has always worked out. The two that sting the most are Casey Hayward and Micah Hyde. I mean, I get WHY we didn't re-sign them, but to see them flourish elsewhere, and then we used draft picks to replace them? We could have used those draft picks else where.

I'm sure glad I'm not NFL General Manager, that's for damn sure.

I can't say that GB "Always win" when they don't resign a vet player. "Usually wins" is probably more accurate. NFL players are probably more disposable than in any of the major 4 professional sports. After 4 years in the trenches the odds are pretty slim that players will still be at their peak abilities when they finish their 2nd contract.

That's why so many people support Uncle Teddy's lack of desire to invest in FAs. I contend there are a few who will be worthwhile and the better GMs can tell who still has something left in the tank and who has already started their decline. There is risk in everything in life. If you want to have a team that will compete late into the playoffs you have to be willing to take a chance once in a while.

That's one of the things I enjoy about Gute, he takes a chance. It didn't work out with Wilkerson but that don't mean you should never try.

Think of the players we wouldn't have been able to afford if we had langs deal on the books right now. We have no cap space as is. Our team would look quite a bit different with just that one moe contract.

So....Lang is injured. Would he have been injured if he had still been in Green Bay? Who knows.
To say they dodged a bullet isn’t realistic. If a player leaves and then sucks on the field because their talent level dropped, then you can say we made the right move and brag about it.
Maybe being in Detroit and playing all the time on fake grass caused his problems and injuries.
Just my humble opinion of course.

So Justin Harrell wasn't a bad pick because no one could predicted his weight room injury?

And Lang was getting bang up every single year, so the idea you your can't predict he would get banged up isn't accurate... you know Lang will, the only question is how bad will it be. Same with Harrell, Matthews, Perry and Bulaga etc.

Zero2Cool (25-Feb) : Gutekunst and Jaire Alexander’s agent, John Thornton, are meeting this week in Indianapolis to determine the future of the Packers’ 28-year-

dfosterf (22-Feb) : I read De'Vondre Campbell's tweet this morning (via the New York Post) Florio says that if he invested his earnings wisely, he will be good

dfosterf (20-Feb) : Hasn"t Bosa missed more games than he has played in the last 3 years?
Mucky Tundra (19-Feb) : He hasn't been too bad when healthy but I don't feel like I ever heard much about when he is
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Felt like he was more interested in his body, than football. He flashed more than I expected
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : When he was coming out, I thought he'd be flash in pan.
Mucky Tundra (19-Feb) : Joey seems so forgettable compared to his brother for some reason
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Issue should be solved, database cleaned and held strong working / meeting. Boom!
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : even with the rapid fire posts?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : I'm not certain it's a bot.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I've got to go to work soon which is a pity because I'm enthralled by this battle between the bot and Zero
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yeah, I see what that did. Kind of funny.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : now it's a link to Wes Hodkiezwicz mailbag
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Now they're back with another topic
