I think this is like the Patrick Peterson case... the talented player want to go to a winner but unless they get a very high offer there is absolutely no reason for the team to trade him. They can't even average 3.5 yards rushing... so their offense is all about overwhelming in the passing game and they needs Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson for that!

Also from what I've heard (I haven't watched them), Jackson fits that scheme PERFECTLY! ... are the Packers gonna be willing to try to grab the Safeties attention and let him run a whole bunch of Go Routes? That hasn't been MM's normal action route.

For a 5th round pick PULL THE TRIGGER! And release a TE (we're not using them all anyways)... but unless he's a headache behind closed doors, I don't see why the Bucs would do it for less than a 3rd round pick (and maybe not even then).


With Jackson earning $11 million and 8 weeks being done (after today), Jackson's contract would cost $5.824 million the rest of the season.

Packers cap space remaining seems to have different amounts... I've trust Spotrac numbers more which suggest Packers have $3.367 million in cap space... and Overthecamp suggests there is $6.969 million in cap space.

But Packers can make more cap space (by stealing from future years) by redoing a vet contract, to give them more guaranteed money and less base salary money, as by NFL rules, guaranteed money, spreads out over 5 years or the life of the contract, which ever is shorter.

Which is what Mike Sherman kept doing with Favre, which gave us the false news stories Favre was taking less for the team... when really he was just turning base salary into guaranteed money and Sherman was robbing future years cap amounts trying to keep all his offensive guys happy...

Jackson's contract is $$11 cap hit in 2018 and $10 cap hit in 2019.

Packers have just over $3 million in cap space for 2018 and almost $40 million for 2019.
